No, not at all. I see some of the responses, and they keep pointing to how priests were moved around. The hierarchies that moved them around are men as well. The author of the question is right...The Catholic Church is a family, a huge body of Christ. In any organization as huge as the Catholic Church, being ran by men, things will not be perfect. There have been many other organizations, religious and non that has had scandals, and molestations. The Church just seems to get the blunt end of the stick. My grandmother was raped when she was 11 by two Protestant Ministers, so I guess the Protestant Church is evil as well, right? I don't think that way, but to judge a whole family, and say we didn't care, or we didn't do anything about it is wrong. There were some members of the family who didn’t take the correct actions, and I as part of the Catholic am not one of them. I am a Catholic, and God will deal with the ones who have done wrong. I cannot and will not judge, it is not my place. I do not, and have never condoned hurting anybody, ever!

Most Catholics are good, God fearing people. However, they just roll over and play dead when the Catholic church covers for these perverted priest. What the Catholic church has done is criminal by any ones standard. You Catholics should stand up and demand that the Priest, Bishops, Cardinals, and even the Pope should be de-frocked if they can not prosecute these perverts, and all Bishops who covered for them. Its is not every Catholics fault that some pervert Priest rapes a child, but it is your fault that you don't force the church to jail those perverts. If that happens in a Baptist church, the pastor is arrested immediately and prosecuted. You should all be ashamed of your behavior.

No you can't judge a whole family by the actions of some of the members, but how has the "head of the household" responded to it? The heads of the catholic church covered it up, denied it, ignored it, blamed others, and etc.

Some people don't think that Priests are human. They think that god works through them and somehow they are holier than the average person and thus incabable of sin. That's a crock of bull. If you wouldn't leave your kids alone with a strange man, then you shouldn't leave your kids alone with a strange Priest. Some people research the credentials and background of any other child care professional, but not their Priest. It's ironic really.

I think if molestation is happening in anyones world and nobody is talking about it then it's dysfunctional and unhealthy. I do not choose to live in any dysfunctional and unhealthy worlds anymore. I think that religion was designed by man as a means to control the masses. Look how well religion has treated people. How many wars were caused by religion vs religion? How about the stuff going on in Israel right now? How about Germany in the 40's? Shall I continue? How about the whole situation in Iraq where death is justified in the name of "Allah"? How can hate be justified in ANY religion. I think I'd rather be a spiritual person and try to keep hate out of my world. Molestation is unacceptable in every way. Period.

Ye shall know them by their fruits. Your right the Catholic church is run by man. The true Church of Jesus Christ has been restored, www. lds. org.
They are false priests, you know now so leave. Pray to know the truth don't stay for traditional reasons. Infant baptism is also an abomination in the sight of the Lord. Find the Truth it is out there. You are on to something. x catholic

Ahh, but how now do you trust an institution "run by man" to provide anything other than human short-sightedness and self-interest. The scandal was not that some priests molested children, but that the authorities hid them, sent them to places where they could continue molesting children, and ignored the pleas of the victims.

If a member of the family does something bad, it does not make everynone bad, unless the other members who see this action or somehow know about it, don't report it or do nothing to stop it. Then they are an accomplice to this reprehensible behaviour.

Its not the family's fault that some people in your family made a bad decisions, everybody thinks differently and everybody in a family have different mind sets. so the people that had done the horrible act is the one responsible not the family
