I live in Nova Scotia but on the opposite side of the Bay of Fundy near Parrsboro. It is a beautiful province with lots to see and do. Quaint fishing villages and sea sides. The water is cold but clean and refreshing we have the highest tides in the world. Halifax is a nice city but its a typical city. Its rural Nova Scotia thats so beautiful and scenic lots of little museums and hiking spots. Nova Scotia is known for its friendly people you'll have a great visit. Enjoy and congradulations

You will honeymooning in a beautiful area of Canada. Nova Scotia was settled back in the early 1600's. The water is cold(Atlantic Ocean)and the further away from Halifax, the cleaner the water. For a better experience, rent a car, drive to Prince Edward Island(2 1/2 Hour drive away), the water is warmer, better beaches, friendlier people and absolutely gorgeous this time of year. Nova Scotia is nice as well, the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton(4 hour drive) is breath-taking. Depending when you are coming, autumn can hit in early October along with a chance of snow but September is still nice, high teens, low 20's Celsius, Oct- mid teens, Nov- low teens. Enjoy your honeymoon and the 12kilometer bridge to Prince Edward Island.

I remember reading about the town, the Mersey River (and the mysterious indian lakes of the park I'm guessing you'll be in) through the writer Thomas Raddell, who you may know is still the town's foremost citizen. You had better prepare from some contact with ghosts!!!!!
I've spent about a years worth of time in southern Nova Scotia and my favourite place is further south down the through Annapolis around Wolfeville or the beach at Grand Pre. When you walk out on what they call the abattoirs (sp?) and in that country in general i feel you get a strong sensation of years past. One possibility for a daytrip.
