I'm 60, living in WA State all my life.. As a kid, I always heard it called pop, but then somewhere along the line, some started calling it soda. Nowadays some call them soda while others call them pop. But, funny thing is, when you buy one from a vending machine, it's still always called a "pop machine". Go figure...

I call it soda. I was raised in the Midwest, but moved around a lot, so I stuck with soda because that's what most people understand. Now I live on the West Coast and that's what everyone says, thank goodness!

Doesn't matter, RC, Dr Pepper, Fanta... Coke is just synonymous with all of them. Good generic name for them.
Raised in Gainesville, GA.

I am Canadian, and I call it a "soft drink" or a "pop" - short for "soda pop" I guess, but not to be confused with a "wobbley pop" (beer!).
