I'm tired of hearing people explain my faith, when they haven't a clue what they are talking about. I see it time, and time again. If you don't have a Doctorate in Theology from an accredited university, maybe you should know about what your saying before you make yourself look unbelievably ignorant.

Well you are not alone. I believe it happens to most religions. For example, I am a member of the church of Christ. I have seen answers that said we believe things that we do not. I have also seen answers that say we don't believe things that we actually do believe. Some people get the church of Christ, the United Church of Christ, and the Church of Christ Scientist mixed up. Although these are 3 seperate groups with VERY different beliefs.
The same happens to Baptists. There are Southern Baptists, Northern Baptists, Free-will Baptists, and Primitive Baptists, but some make statements implying that "all baptists believe..." There are some big differences in these groups.

Also, just because a person belongs to a church, that does not mean they agree with everything that church stands for. Example: many churches teach homosexuality is a sin, but that church may have members that think homosexuality should be accepted. Individual members may not agree with the official church position on a certain subject.

In addition to the above reasons, many religions have more librel and conservative factions.

Finally, many churches, including the catholic church, have changed over time. With this the case, it may be hard for an outsider to keep up-to-date on the official church position on certain issues. They may find a quote from years past, and assume the church still believes the same.

As you can see, there are many reasons a church may be misrepresented, even if no malace is involved in the statements made.

Some think they are really clever but as for me, I have been a Catholic, was raised one, went to their schools and finally fell away when I found the truth of the bible and the lies I was told during the growing years. So if I answer a question about the Catholic church, I think I can say I know of what I speak. I also have the Catachism as well as encyclopedias put out by the Catholic church and have access to them online as well. I may not have a doctorate but I would venture a guess that you do not have one either so if you can answer anything knowlegably about it, I think I could too. My mother is still a stauch Catholic that hates my church, her words. I was brought up not to hate any church but somehow that has changed in the church so there is hatred for other churches that do not teach the Catholic ways.

I was raised Catholic. But I wanted to know the truth. And when I found out how many lies the Catholic church teaches and has authored over the centuries...

The Word of God is truth (John 17:17), the words of men are suspect.

One does not need a Doctorate in Theology to have faith, to know the teachings of God, Jesus or the Bible, or to know the lies that the Catholic church teaches (for the later, only a non-biased history book is needed).

Jesus said, "You shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles? Even so every good tree brings forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruits, nor can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that does not bring forth good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you shall know them." (Matthew 7:16-20)

My goodness, what are people saying? It must be really exciting, or you wouldn't be posting.

It's not the business about the Treasury of Merit, is it? That was dismantled, of course, but it's still shocking.

Or, the Inquisitions? I know, they were also done away with centuries ago, but some folks still find it hard to believe.

I'm still getting over the Vatican's decision that women DO have souls, as ratified in the 19th C. ...what a laugh, I know it was only an oversight, and they had intended to do it sooner.

It's the thing against birth control, I'll bet.

Please tell us what it is!

Because some of us have studied about it to find out ..The Bible was not written for those that have a DD, it was written to be read by everyone. Are you saying that the priests that are pedofiles and have their DD know what the Bible says?? And we should just overlook their little sexual deviances, and if we don't we are unbelievably ignorant.
Many people have studied the Roman Religion and found it greatly lacking in integrity and truth. Sorry but you are wrong .

Because I was raised a Catholic. I was a Catholic until I reached the age of reason, then I realized that church, like most of people or organizations of power like to keep the people down just so they can get away with all the money and power... I mean, an invisible man in the sky who loves you, but created hell just in case... sounds like BS to me

I agree but please do not make generalizations on the general public. I am not a catholic but a Anglican and that is pretty close to catholic so I know enough nobody knows everything even with a doctorate.

Forced to be a catholic as a child-- Remember Jesus preached to the lowly and untutored ones. And those he picked as his disciples, were from the common man. Just because "you got book-larning" don't mean you smart.
