Chivas Regal 40 Year Old Bottle

I would guess that it is worth about $25.00, or about what a boxed bottle of Chivas Regal Whisky that is a week old. (By the way, there is no "e" in Scotch Whisky."

Scotch, like Bourbon, Canadian, etc, is aged in oak casks. Once it has been bottled, the aging process stops, so a 40 year old (unopened) bottle of Chivas Regal will taste pretty much like a day old bottle of Chivas Regal.

Now, if you talking about a bottle of Scotch that was aged for 40 years before it was bottled, that's a horse of a different color.

It depends on how old it was when taken from the casks and bottle, since after it was bottled it hasn't improved. I wouldn't actually pay anything for it but would prefer a single malt like Aberfeldy. I don't think your Chivas would be worth any more than a similar bottle in Tessco.

It`s worth whatever the same grade of Chivas is selling for at your local store. Sprits do not change or improve with age.

Probably be an idea to contact an auction house. They might be able to give you some idea of worth.

I would lock it up to just in case someone decides they want a wee dram!!!!!
