I believe that if you claim you have a demonic possession, you are just in a state of mind where you're wrong-doings symbolize evil. There have been tests on people you are speaking in tongues and it showed that there is a part of their mind that stops working when they have a religious experience. The part that stops working is where your brain defines who you are as a person. Your qualities, traits, thoughts, values, are lost when it stops working. So really, you are no longer you and you become a different person acting out. Could this be the same with people claiming the devil has taken over them ? Could they think they are something or someone they are truly not when an exorcist is "removing" the "evil".

There are no demons, there is no evil Satan.

Judaism makes it very clear that Satan is an angel doing the work 'God' assigned to Satan to do. He's not interested in possessing anybody.

From http://www.faqs.org/faqs/judaism/FAQ/06-Jewish-Thought/section-36.html

I would say you're right, that people who believe they're possessed are experiencing a serious misfire of neurons in their brains. People who speak in tongues and roll around in godly ecstasy would show the same brainwaves as kids who go to a rock concert and freak on the music.

Watch the Exorcism of Emily Rose, true story, actual events AND offers both a religious side, and a scientific side. Religion says yes, and science says no, and the arguments are compelling.

Course its just a movie, based on real events, so research her case. Its fascinating.

uh huh... and this part of your brain can cause your voice to change, and your complexion to warp? Being posessed is not limited to doing evil.
You gotta know that there are differences between just doing evil (listening to the devil or a deamon) and being posessed (giving your body to a demon) If someone is posessed, they can change physically, and well as mentally.
