Bookstores are a great place to start such as Barnes and Noble, Walden, Borders Books, ect. Through your child's teacher, you may also purchase books through the book order. Scholastic and Trumpet are both great book orders that offer cheap books to students and teachers. You may also consider going to garage sales. You are bound to find a variety of children's books for super cheap!
Just remember, read to your children. Start early and read often!

If you are looking to buy beautiful picture books, that any bookstore can help you. You can look inside many of the books on Amazon.com. Target, Wal-Mart and Barnes and Nobel along with many other stores have books that you can look at. Some of the inexpensive books are great for kids. I would get board books for your littlest ones.
If you are looking for books that your child can read then, I would look at readingatoz.com. If you have a membership, you can down load stories and print them out that your child can read on different reading levels.

Seriously? You have NO idea where to buy children's books? You're completely baffled?
You might want to simply start by going to the library and borrowing books. Then when you find ones that you'd like to own, you could buy them. Going to the library will give you a much broader range of choices.

Childrens education store...
Learning express
Learning Exchange
Target has a sectione where they break the books down by age.
Barnes and Noble has a really big book section.
Also....Thrift stores get a lot of kids books, and they typically resale them for like 50 cents...so its a way to get a lot for a little

Go to the library. I made the expensive mistake of buying A TON of books for my girls. Children outgrow books quickly, so only buy a few of you favorites that can be passed down to your grand kids, great grand kids, etc...

Try Half.com, it is a site owned by Ebay. You can buy lots of children's books there. The shipping charges are pretty reasonable.
