-Does anyone besides me find that people who use their own pictures instead of their avatars seems vain?

Ha, it's totally not just you. They're almost always pictures they took themselves, too.

I don't think it's vain at all. I like to see the face of the person who is posting. I'd post my picture (or actually my dog's picture) but I can't figure it out so I just settled on the avatar.

I don't. The majority of the people who use their own pictures don't have yahoo, and are therefore unable to get an avatar.

No. Some people actually have pics they can put up. Some don't. Also some people may want to remain "annonymous" for some reason or other. The ones that bug me are the ones with just the smiley face.

Nope, not at all. I'd rather see the real pictures. All these avatars start to look alike after awhile, it is kind of creepy.

I don't see it as a matter of vanity as much as a blow against anonymity. No need to hide behind a caricature. This is me, take me or leave me. It's the ones that use pictures of their dogs that I can't figure out.
