Look for a dog food specifically designed for underweight dogs. You can also fatten him up by feeding by puppy food as it has a higher energy content.

But I'd really go to the vet's for a proper assessment. If your dog is skinny then there could be an underlying reason why and the vet can prescribe something. Or it could just be, your dog is a healthy weight but he just looks skinny to you.

Adding fat to the diet of a dog, particularly bacon fat, any fat can and will cause pancreutitus. It can shut down and cause death. Just feed a premium kibble. You should be able to slightly feel your dogs ribcage by running your hand along its sides. That is healthy. If is is starving, feed it till its at a healthy weight, small meals thru the day. Not huge amounts in one setting. Then slack off to a good amount for him.

Same way you would make yourself chubby. EAT more.
But why would you want to? A skinny dog will live longer and have more energy. What advise does your vet give? That is what advise I would go by.

Ask your vet...but making a dog chubby isnt good for his heart.

BTW...feeding a dog bacon grease is terrible advise!!!

And to the guy named BONE down below VV
What the heck does that mean???

get him neutered and feed him food that is high in protien, it wont make him chubby really but it will help him fill in.

You should never try to make your dog over weight it causes serious health problems and shortens thier lifespan.

Feed your dog a good quality food like Natural Balance, Nutro, Performatrin, or Solid Gold.

I think I know, you can give him more dog food. But do not give him human food, it is really bad for him. You can give him to meals a day. One at night and one during the day. But you still want to try to give him some excercise so he doesn't get lazy and fat. Trust me, it happened to my beagle and she has gotten extremely lazy and might I and pretty fat, she is now 45 pounds! But she is still my little sweety.

I have a golden retriever mix who was very thin when we got her..i was told to mix 2 tablespoons of cottage cheese in with her food and its working..she eats her food with cottage cheese once a day and is gaining weight. i was concerned about it giving her loose stool seeing how its dairy but i haven't had any problems with that..but if you do give her cottage cheese make sure you keep an eye on her stool just in case and stop if they become looser than normal.

How would you make a person chubby? Take him to McDonald's drive thru every day and let him order.
