Why is it that uneducated people think that Wicca/Pagans are related to Satanism?

When its pretty obvious they have nothing to do with eachother. It just kind gets me annoyed when they are linked together....

How does Nature and some dark overlord go hand and hand...I ask you?

I am Christian and I do not think that Wicca/Pagans are related to Satanism.
Although i do not share the same beliefs as you, I understand how that must annoy you. I think the people that do relate it to Satanism, are just afraid of things that they have no knowledge about. It is pure ignorance my friend, that is all. Anyone that claims to be a true Christian should not Hate others. It is okay to not agree, or to share their Faith with you, but it is not okay to hate.

The simple answer is Milena old propaganda. The Church has programed them, even non-Christians, to believe that Polytheistic western religions = Satan worship or devil worship. Another problem is that Devil worship is technically a pagan religion being a polytheistic western religion, and Satanism is always associated with devil worship since the Christians have named their Devil Satan. Since some apples are red, and those are the ones that get the most attention, when we think of an apple we think of red apples. Some people may not know that there are green and yellow apples, if they are never told. Most People have no idea that Wicca/Paganism has to do with Nature. They assume that what their church tells them is right, even when they haven't been to church since they were children. I've known many proclaimed atheists that accept Christianity as a "normal" part of society, but think of Wicca/Paganism as wrong or immoral. Go figure?

I think it's because Satanism and Wicca, both don't believe in God. That's really why a lot of people tie the 2 together.

When you think of Satanism, you think of darkness, and hatefulness, the same with Paganism.. If you've ever seen movies on tv... one being "dragnet", they portray paganism close to satanism. They have a high preist, and sacrifices, and they kill animals, etc... yes it's a movie, but a lot of movies portray that side of paganism. I don't think Pagans and Wiccans are alike either. Wiccans are more earthy, but they do have interests in witches and spells, and of course that also ties into "darkness". This all coming from a christian point of view.

I don't think that many people make the assumption based on ignorance. I think the few who do, do out of a theology that associates any non-Abrahamic religion with satanism by virtue of the adherents being duped into it by Satan. You can see that reflected in some of the answering above.

I guess you are one of those "uneducated people" because Satanism has nothing to do with worshiping the devil. I agree, though. It is annoying when people act like they are educated in a certain area, yet obviously know nothing about that subject!

The bible says that mediums and pagans witchcraft are of the devil. however I have a wiccan friend. They are good people and smart. They do understand the bible they just choose not to use it. I don't try to change their beliefs. I will just be there when they need me.

Academically, they usually know that. But Christians think you are worshipping the devil and you just don't realize it. Convenient, huh? Everyone who isn't worshipping the Christian God is really worshipping the devil... even if that incarnation of the devil seems better than the Christian God at times - you know, not nearly as irritable.

to make the answer simple,
if you do not serve the lord you serve the devil.
it is one way or the other, just like life sweet heart, there comes a time when you have to chose a side and be prepared to stand accountable for your choice, which you most certainly have the right to.

There are but two religions. Judeo-Christianity and Satanism. Just like Christianity can have denominations-like methodist and Baptist, so can Satanism-Mohammadanism,wicca, paganism.....
