By getting to know each other, likes, dislikes, interests, values, etc. I see so many relationships start off with "Oh he/shes so cute, I want to go out with him/her." meanwhile they have no clue as to what the other person is really like and then wonder why the relationship didn't work out.

Well it depends on how well you know this person. If you have known this person for awile do some small things they like. Then go bigger. If you don't know them that well then find outsome things they like and go from there.
