The other day I went into the city and their were 2 ladies promoting your religion by rapping and having music blurring out. Do you feel this is the right way to do it or is it degrading your religion? I'm not a Christian and found this really strange so was curious to know what you think.

Yes, it is not good to mix the world's form and rythms with christian words and call it christian music. We are called to be different and set apart.

Music is made up of rhythms. Tones, from which we build melodies and harmonies, are produced by rhythmical vibrations (a certain number of vibrations per second produces a given note). In fact, the first three elements of music-melody, harmony, and tone color-are the result of the arrangement and "quality" of these rhythmical vibrations. What we usually refer to as "rhythm" includes the grouping of tones into "measures" of music, as well as the tempo at which these groupings are played or sung.

An interesting fact that may give us clearer insight as to why music has such power over the human frame is that we are also essentially rhythmical creatures. "There is rhythm in respiration, heartbeat, speech, gait, etc. The cerebral hemispheres are in a perpetual state of rhythmical swing day and night."*

Since both music and man are rhythmical, it is not difficult to understand why a person exposed to music begins to assimilate its beats. This is demonstrated when a person begins tapping the feet or exhibiting some kind of body movement in response to music. Thus, the body automatically alters its own rhythms to synchronize with the outside stimuli.

The term Christianity covers a wide range of faiths, so there is going to be a wide range of behavior. So some very strange things can be done in the name of Christianity. Most of them are harmless, and I'm glad they've found a path, but it's just not the way I would go about it.

I am a Christian. I don't go for "loud" music but I do know that there are many (especially Baptists) that go in for that. I really don't think that it's wrong though as I first said it really isn't me. To me, when you yell or shout, even through the blaring music then you tend to push people. I think it's much better if people come because they want to & not just as a means to "shut" or quiet things.

Who cares what type of music it is? It does not have to be a choir. Just be glad it is not like most rap music, and does not glorify misogyny and wealth.

Seriously, anybody who says this is "sinful" or "blasphemous" for no reason other than the fact that it is rap is a f*cking moron.

inorder to reach some people you need to go to thier level and do something that would interest them. so i think this may have been the right way to go about it. and just because you blare your music it doesnt make you any less of a christian. and if those women reached even one person that day it was not a wasted effort afterall they got you thinking didnt they??

Yes, that is a worldly way to reach the lost. All that does is convert people to rap, not to Christianity.

Hello,

I suppose there are numerous ways of promoting the gospel, and this way would appeal to I would imagine....the younger generation. God wants us to be creative, and use ways to grab people's interest.

Personally, I find no problem with it.

The world is changing so the method we use to reach out has to change with the time.

Yuck! That's not a way to attract anybody. I believe gentleness and leading by example is the way.

dont judge our religion based on people's actions. I dont know their intentions, but I hope they were true and real to the faith> Sometimes people abuse or use the faith for their own purposes> IN the end Jesus Christ will judge us all.
