I am planning to swap out my old stock exhaust with a nice exhaust that doesnt make a whole lot of sound, but has really nice hp boost. I am thinking the apeki dual n1 exhaust. Anyother ideas?

Having owned a 97 240sx, I can tell you after switching out to a larger exhaust, preferably 2.5-3" mandrel bent etc, there was a significant increase in mid-range power. I'd suggest any Greddy, HKS, Apexi, etc. They're all pretty much the same(machine tig weld, mandrel bent, 2.75-3" diameter, but with different mufflers and brand names on them.

Apex1 N1 is nice but is a bit louder than others out there. It's a popular exhaust for 240 owners.

I had an apex n1 on my 240sx. I lost low end horsepower but regained it through the higher rpm's. You will find this true with most exhaust systems, which is why I gave up on the turbo and went for a KA-T. If you are really concerned about horsepower and want to stay na consider the AEM EMS. I have heard a lot of great results from this plug and play engine management system. Also I would stay away from the dual exhaust system, not to be mean but it is sort of a poser/show car look and is about as functional and performance oriented as a type R badge on 1988 90hp hatchback civic.

Leave it stock. You'll have better luck when it comes maintenance time for the exhaust, especially. Besides, there won't be a very big noticable difference in HP between stock and 'whatever that system you mentioned'. Some people in my area do it for that ONE reason....sound. Sound does not = more HP.
