Oh, I thought that Chapter 12 was maybe when they start serving flat soda and moldy sandwiches (which isn't that much of a difference from now in some cases!)...interesting! I didn't know it really applied to bankruptcy issues. Thank you!

That depends on the airlines. In previous years, Continental, U.S. Airways and United have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and to date, these airlines are still flying. Chapter 11 doesn't mean that they will go out of business, it just means that they are asking the federal bankrupctcy courts to help with reorganization of the contractural and debt obligations of that company.

Airlines cannot file for chapter 12 bankruptcy. That is reserved for family farmers and fisherman in certain situations.

Chapter 12 refers to Chapter 12 of Title 11 of the United States Code.

TO the girl above me, chapter 11 is bankruptcy. and as for what chapter 12 is anyway.. I would sure hope the book is over by chapter 13 at least.
