Living here in Tampa the best thing would be to hangout with friends and just have a good time.
Just visiting or new to the area, Channel side and Ybor are two of the night spot areas. Brandon town center, citrus park town center and International plaza are great malls to stroll thru. Tampa area has over 20 parks to walk thru the boardwalks and trails, fishing, and nature watching. The Oldsmar flea market is a neat place to look at what stuff people have to offer. Oh Bay shore Blvd, the worlds longest continuous sidewalk, has great views of the bay, downtown Tampa, Davis Island and The Homes along the Blvd are breath taking.
Seasonal things to do are: The Florida State Fair, The Strawberry Festival, Guavaween, and Gasparilla's day and night parades.
