Although religion seems to be a key factor in wars, I feel that people use it as an excuse. If a leader instills idea's in to people's heads that they are fighting for their religion it gets more of a response. People can be brainwashed and religion is an easy way in for some people. If these people were really religious they would not believe in killing innocent people, all religions are meant to have the same principles. Although I am not religious myself I can see why the 10 commandments are a good guide on how to lead your life. These people should have a look at what is gained out of war and mostly they will find that there are lots of unhappy people and a big fat greedy leader.

This issue has been used, abused and overused to show that Christianity is the point of all of the world's evils. A breach in Israels fence was caused by a bomb. Five soldiers were killed, two kidnapped. Bombs flying into Israel can not hardly be considered religion. Iraq, believe it or not had weapons of mass destruction plus the desire by a leader to do ethnic cleansing in his country. Ethnicity and religion are not one and the same. It is a group of people that is not wanted. North Korea could care less about the USA religion. They want to be noticed. Iran on the other hand has a hatred of a certain sect of people not their religion. Pakistani militants did not bomb the train in India due to religion. They simply hate the people of India. World War II Hitler seen the Jewish people as amassing wealth while others did not. He wanted to do ethnic cleansing. No religion in that. History has repeated itself so many times but the same question is still being asked. Of course you did have the crusades. . Just because Al-Qaeda yells jihad means nothing. They are simply terrorists, consider Egypt, these were Muslims also.

Let's see:

Vietnam? Nope.

Korea? Not at all.

World War II? No.

World War I? Negative on that.

Spanish-American War? Well, it involved a mostly Protestant country against a mostly Catholic one -- but the war itself was not caused by any religious difference.

The Northern Ireland conflict, which has been rather quiet the past few years? Nope, though it's often framed as a Catholic-Protestant thing. Even if they were all atheists, they'd still be fighting.

The various civil wars going on in the world right now? Few, if any, involve religious differences.

Even the Middle East conflict -- the "religious war" for every anti-religion commentator worth his/her salt -- is primarily involving land and politics, not religion.

Nope. In fact, almost no wars revolve around religion. Most wars are fought for reasons of economics & politics and then religion is co-opted into supporting the war.

You are probably refering to the Isrealy war going on right now. Which has been for many, many years, don't get me mistaken. I think we are close to the end times, war is starting in the middle east. We could very well be on the brink of World War III. It's only a matter of time before North Korea descides to do more with their nuclear missles than just test them. There is also the trouble with Iran, The war on Iraq, Alqueda(I know I spelled that wrong), homegrown terroists and insurgens, and China. Not to mention the black market that has been going through Russia.

Not all wars are about reilgion but the ones that are seem to be based on peoples beliefs which sounds fair enough, but remember we are all taught our religions from in our infancy and maybe some of us are taught in a stronger way than others.Maybe the ones who are taught in the stronger way with strict disipline can hear no wrongs about thier own religion and see it as the ultimate. It seems that in the middle east a lot of men are prepared to die fighting but is it for thier religion or thier country

Nope, it's more like wars revolve around haves vs. have-nots.
And the have-nots use religion as a rallying cry to unite themselves.

Wars are started for all sorts of reasons. The questions runs a bit like, "are all arguments caused by religion" - the answer is no!

No not all wars are about religion. Many, most I would say are about power and who owns what.
