America would get great sandy beaches and Mexico would get awesome resources to provide their people with the wages they deserve to earn. Hmm I'm only half joking on this one...

I guess my point is that so many of them come over here illegally anyway. Yes it's a 3rd world nation but I'm sure that we would get a dedicated work force out of the deal. Whatever the unemployment rate is over there, I would assume it's largely to do with a lack of opportunity.

I don't *assume* they'd want to sell.

Judging from the history of the US, they wouldn't buy anything simply come in and kill off all the people, enslaved them, and rape the women until we are all one big happy family like they did with the Indians, Africans, Japanese, and how they took Texas and California/

There is a reason why there are rich countries and poor countries. Just like there are reasons why there are rich people and poor people. Someone has to be. Until money is not a part of society anymore, and greed and corruption does not run the entire country of Mexico, they will always be inferior as far as development goes. USA will never 'buy' Mexico save the chance that we found it had diamonds laying in the air on the ground and oil two feet down!
I know only in jest, but still. The point is there.

there is no way that we would ever take on there problems and poverty. And that's all Mexico has to offer. sure there are a few resort cities here and there but the majority of Mexico is a third world nation. Mexico needs to set their own minimum wage system but that might send business father south that are just there to take advantage of NAFTA.

I love this idea. I will contribute $100 toward the purchase as long as I get unlimited time share in a nice condo on the beach in San Carlos!

Oh wow! Most international companies would love it because then any thing American made would be dirt cheep as would our wages. Our welfare system would be over used as would our school systems over crowded and the U.S. economy would fall thru the cellar floor. You think America has problems now?
That would really be kayos!

What makes you think they would want to sell? As it is much like the native Americans they once owned most of southern California, Arizona and Texas.

I see what you mean. I don't think you mean it in a disrespectful way but some people just don't know any better. I think it would be a good I idea but that doesn't mean that the Mexicans are going to agree to sell their land. as much as people criticize them because of how poor of a country it might be they still take pride in their land as much as Americans take pride in theirs. Where would the US get all the money? You do realize they owe other countries in the trillions by now, right? If China wanted allt heir money back from the states, the US would be bankrupt.

Mexico needs to do more for its own purposes and not look to the U.S. for the easy buck.

No solutions in that option, only problems. Only the Mexicans truly understand their culture and needs; therefore, it is only right that they work to resolve their problems.

I guess you have never been to Mexico, and seen all the American business over there?
