perhaps talking to your doctor will help you to see that your body is normal - and most likely healthy - which is the key here. If you feel you have severe body issues, there's always therapy as well, who can help you to see your body as it really is and not how you interpret it to be after comparing it to others. You and your body are going to be together for a loooong time, so if there are things that you can change through a healthier diet and exercise - pursue those things. If it's things that you cannot change - learn to accept that and even love that about yourself. Those unique, quirky things are what make you YOU.

ask yourself why you have no self confidence, have you not been complimented or praised by those close to you?. At your age I was extremely fat and wore glasses. At school I was the one they poked fun at. However I had a couple of loyal friends and a good sense of humour. My family always praised me telling me I was beautiful, clever and fun to be around. Their support gave me confidence and I actually believed what they said because I knew they meant it. At 15 I lost all the fat and the glasses and the ugly duckling changed into a beautiful swan. Your body seems so important at your age even if its great you don't think it is. Even the girls that you think have confidence will be feeling the same things you do because they will find fault with their appearance. Look at all your good points you must have many and tell yourself every day that you are beautiful be happy with who you are and your confidence will grow. If you are happy and smile it will show in your face and your stature will be more positive so you will see the lovely person you are, good luck , remember this is only a normal stage you are passing through don't let it spoil your young years enjoy each day you have so much I'm sure.

It's tough being 13, but it doesnt last. All you can do for now is not make any poor decisions while you are young (dont have sex, take up smoking, try drugs just yet - and make sure you do study hard).
Then, when you are older, you will be healthy and smart - and confident !
There's no quick fix - you have to work at it for a long time.
Some of the other advice about exercise is quite good as well, but a bit superficial (just masking the problem).

Do you have anyone you think you could talk to about this? A friend or relative perhaps. I'm a lot older than you but I do remember what it's like to be 13 and I felt much the same. Things did get a lot better for me and I'm sure they will for you too. Does your school have a counsellor, because that is someone you can talk to in confidence about how you feel. Please hang on in there, and remember, you're not alone, an awful lot of us have felt the same, and we're still here, and glad of it too.

I'm sorry you feel that way. You are probably describing how 90% of women feel. Try to remember that you are so much more than your body. I'm sure you have interests, hobbies, likes and dislikes that make you unique. You need to cultivate those. Seeing a counsellor helped me a lot and also reading the book "The Body Image Workbook" It gives you exercises and questions that help you get to the root of the problem. Above all, remember that you are not alone.

It depends on why you are unhappy about your body.
Think to yourself what you are unhappy about, and make notes, then see if you can change them one by one.
For example, if you are unhappy about your weight, start with that, and just start to maybe do a bit of light exercise, gradually working it up to more.
I am the laziest person in the world, and i found myself sitting on the couch just watching TV doing nothing, but i decided one day to get up and walk on the spot while watching the TV. Sounds wierd, but it made me start to build up some energy, and then i started with some sit-ups, and things like that. It has worked because i have lost loads of wieght and feel much better about myself.
Surround yourself with the mates you know you can trust, and they will cheer you up.
You should never think of killing yourself, this isnt the answer, as there is a whole world ahead of you.
If other people are teasing you about your weight, just work hard to be the best in other areas, like academics. Then you will get a better job than them, and have more money than them in the future, and be able to rub it in your face.
Hope this is good advice, and you feel better.

The following healthy living recommendations will help you if you’re trying to lose weight, tone up your muscles, have aspirations of building lean muscle mass, are attempting to get a wash board stomach, or just want to feel better:
*1) Burn more calories then you're consuming everyday and measure your results using the following formula: Calories Consumed minus Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) minus Physical Activity minus the Thermic Effect of Food (TEF). A website that explains this formula in more detail and will help you determine how many calories you need to reach or maintain a certain weight is at http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/library/weight/calsburned.htm
Get a diet and fitness calculator that you can put on your computer or cell phone. This will allow you to easily calculate the above formula, set goals, log your daily calorie consumption, and register your physical activities.
Set realistic goals for your ideal body weight. Here are two websites that will calculate a suggested body weight:
Adults: http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm
Teens/Children: http://www.kidshealth.org/kid/exercise/weight/bmi.html
It is difficult and unhealthy to lose more than one or two pounds per week. There are 3,500 calories in a pound. If you eat 500 fewer calories per day for a week you will lose one pound. If you burn through exercise 500 more calories per day for a week you will lose one pound.
*2) Eat natural and organic foods found on earth versus something created by a corporation to make money. Eat meals in small portions throughout the day and take a good multi-vitamin supplement.
Avoid “High Glycemic Load Carbs” (sugar, pastries, desserts, refined starches such as breads, pasta, refined grains like white rice; high starch vegetables such as potatoes) and drink lots of water. Read this article for more information on high GL Carbs:
http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/carbohydrates.html
Do not try fad diets or diet pills. Here is an excellent food pyramid that anyone can follow: http://www.rayandterry.com/html/images/PyramidLRG.gif?osCsid=26a424be471d1337e7c2f105d5c64d9d
*3) Exercise on most days by doing cardiovascular training and/or resistance training activities.
Read a book or find a certified trainer to make sure your doing all resistance training exercises correctly. A great book to buy that teaches you the resistance training basics is “Weight Training for Dummies”. A superb magazine to buy with resistance training routines that will not get you bored is "Muscle and Fitness". Signup for the free newsletter. An excellent free online resource is at http://www.exrx.net/
A good book to buy that teaches you the cardiovascular training basics is “Fitness for Dummies”.
*4) Get plenty of sleep. Sleep experts say most adults need between seven and nine hours of sleep each night for optimum performance, health, and safety.
*5) Educate yourself continually on health issues and make a life long commitment to good health. A great free publication is “Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005”. A superb book to read is “You The Owner’s Manual”. An excellent periodic publication is the “Nutrition Action Health Letter”. A reputable test you can take to measure your biological age is at http://realage.com
Look at all areas where you can enhance your health. For example, make improvements in the quality of the air you breathe. Review outdoor air quality forecasts where you live and get an indoor air purifier. Send me an email or yahoo instant message to "gainbetterhealth" if you want an indoor air purifier recommendation and if you have any questions.
*Click on all the source links below to get the full benefit of the recommendations. Always seek the advice of your physician or other qualified health providers with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition.
