My mother is allergic to shell fish.

Anchovies are little tiny hairy fish. They school off the coast of Virginia in the US, and you can go out in a boat and watch Right Whales scoop them up for lunch.

They're very salty. But they aren't shellfish.

Anchovies are tiny silver fish that are a member of the herring family. They are not shell.

It's a fish.
But if you're Mom is allergic to shellfish she probably cannot eat tuna fish either.
Check with her allergist just to be certain first.

I fully agree. it IS a FISH and NOT a shellfish (they are NOT at all the same by species NOR by allergenicity I can tell you!!!)..in general...shellfish tend to be more highly allergenic, potentially, than are most fish species!!

Treatment?? AVOIDANCE...STRICTLY if a TRUE food allergy has been diagnosed!!!
