My cats names are spider(because it looks like she walked into a spider web) drist(because he is a black cat and drist means "dark elf" Plus it is unique), angel( she is a beautiful white cat), snoop (because he was always curious when he was a kitten and "snoopin" around), pumpkin (we call him punk for short~he is an orange tabby and acts like a little "punk"), ozzie (we named her odd ball ozzie b/c she was the only black cat out of a litter of 5 orange tabby cats), mystery (this is has a weird twist to it~I was driving down to New orleans and I stop at a gas station about 30 miles way from my home~I got out of my car and heard this kitten crying~ I looked and i thought it was one of my kittens that had gotten in my car when I was packing~ so I took her back home only to find out that my cat that looked just like her was already home~ that is why we named her mystery~), Howie (because when he was a kitten he would howl all the time), scooter (because I thought he had a dislocated hip when he was born and his first 4 weeks he would scoot around~all is well now), lulu (just because she is prissy~), chester (because he was the color of a chestnut), and Roo ( he was the runt of the litter).
I mostly named out cats out of personality.
I LOVE CATS!

well, not that this is a particularly 'happy' story/reason, but our family cat's name is Chevy. We adopted him from the veterinary clinic that my mom was working in at the time after he had been brought in from an accident. It was the middle of winter and he had apparently climbed into a car engine for warmth but the car's owner didn't realize it and turned on the car anyways....to leave out the details, our cat doesn't have a left eye or a tail but is otherwise blessed. We love him very much and thought he should have a name that would always remind us of his miracle survival, but since we didn't like the name Mazda (that's what he was caught in), we chose another car name that had a bit nicer sound to it...
Our other cats are named Cooper (Chevy's baby look-alike...see the connection?) and Jello (to be honest I don't know why my mom named her that! lol)...we used to have cats named Mama Cat and Sylvester (pretty self-explanatory)...and that's a very condensed list of our pets!

Dillinger- Dillinger was a bank robber and is a hardcore band. My boyfriend named him this. It actually worked out quite well, the names suites the cat. He is a little devil with a soft side, but his personality is really thorny.
Lucy- Lucy is a long linky black cat who I adopted from my dad's farm. She was attention starved was acting all crazy. During the time I was staying at my dad's house I listened to his Beatles CD which has the song Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. I just sang that song to her while I petted her and she seemed to like the name. So it stuck.
Maurice- Maurice is a big hairy grey cat who is Lucy's only surviving son. All of Mo's siblings died at 3 weeks old. I named him Maurice Soul. He remindes me of a jazz soul singer because he just has that personality. Soul because he was the soul survivor and because he was the soul that stayed with us.
As you can see I love my babies.

Males:
Sultan ~ he looks like the sultan from Aladdin (fat with stubby legs & a little head)
Leo ~ he's orange & fuzzy like a lion
Keiran ~ he's little & dark (which is what his name means)
Females:
Julianna ~ she's very regal & the name seemed to fit her
Kinati ~ I made it up when I was little & it works for her
Spooks ~ she's very skittish
China ~ when she was opening her eyes she looked like a little chinese girl (my mom named her)
Fluffy Girl ~ my little 4 year old cousin named her this & it stuck
All of my cats are indoor/outdoor (depending on the weather & their preference) & we live in front of a field, so no screaming about me having 8 cats!

I have 2 cats. One is Tabby My daughter named her.
The other is Festus as in Gunsmoke. My mother named her.
I did have a cat named Pantha once. I got it from a couple of t.v. commercials. one was Pamprin and I forgot the other one. I like giving my cats original names.

Pauly
She's a polydactyl , meaning she has extra toes.
Six toed on each front paw, each paw looks like a mittened hand.
While playing with toys she uses the extra claw as an opposable thumb.

Well when we got our cat , Freddy from some neighbors he was about 1 year old. We thought of changing his name to Leo or Jack but he was so used to his name that we didn't want to change it.

My current kitty's name is Oscar. He's tiny and orange. Minette, which is french for "Cute little kitty" recently died. I also recently lost my black lab, which was named "Dale" after Dale Earnhardt. My husband does bodywork on cars for a living, so we also used to have a dog named "Bondo".
