Desperately require any advice available! My natural hair colour is dark blonde, very light blonde, some would say mousey! after years of highlights I got tired of regrowth and decided I wanted a lovely dark brunette colour, like Mandy Moore or Reese Witherspoon in "Walk The Line" I got my hairdresser to put on a chocolate semi-permanent colour and although I knew it would fade it barely lasted a week! I may aswell not have bothered I really want a dark brown colour and although I have been told permanent colours can damage the hair and depending on your natural colour leave visible regrowth, will I have to resort to this to get the dark colour I want without drastic fading? Or should I stick with semi-permanent? Many thanks

id say stick with the semi cuz i colored my hair black bout two years ago and i could never until this day get it out... its now a brown but u can still see black and its way darker than my natrual hair color (light brown) and the roots look so ugly. i would say semi perms cuz u'll tired of the brown after a while trust me! just stick to semis so u can experiment more!

Redken makes a semi permanent that is called Shades EQ. It is very good and not as damaging because there is only a 3% peroxide used with it. Permanent is best though and it's not really that damaging. The darker the hair color, the less the noticeable the damage and if you are getting your ends trimmed regularly it shouldn't be that much of an issue. You will have re-growth though... no matter what you do your hair is going to grow. In order to maintain it you will need to have your hair colored ever 4 to 6 weeks.

Go permanent unless your hair is really brittle or damaged. My hair is usually in better condition right after I color it. Your regrowth will be visible but if it is, then just go back to your hairdresser and get the rest lightened or add highlights. Again, unless your hair is really dry or brittle to begin with, you should be fine.

You can only get the right colour with permanent dye...if you keep your hair conditioned it will not damage your hair, but you have to stick to a colour close to your natural hair colour..eventually it will lighten so your re-groth will not show that much.
