Lots and lots of long walks!! And no jumping off beds and couches - that is the #1 cause of spinal problems!

I have two mini dachshunds JoJo who's a year and Lucy who is 8 months. I feed them Canidae which is very healthy and they only eat enough to keep them sustained throughout the day. I only feed them treats when they are doing tricks and if we leave them home. I also take walks with them and for such little dogs they can walk alot and loveeeeeeee to run and boy do they run fast. Just remember to limit their jumping from high places which they love to do. I hope your dachshund doesn't get overweight and good luck.

I certainly have 2 daschund the two considered one of them are rather agressive and does not artwork out nicely with strangers yet they're solid with infants, in case you like a canine that get alongside with infants nicely I propose you purchase Golden Retriever via fact they're friendly and that they prefer to play

Dachshunds are very active dogs so not to many worried there unless you have had it spayed or neutered. If this is the case then your good at watching how much she eats. And take her on walks that will help out tons. I have 3 mini dachshunds and my daughter has 2 and my son has 1. Mini Dachshunds rock!!! We love then.

hi from another lapdoglover doxie owner...........we have a year and a half red/brindle doxie named HoneyBun, or sometimes we call her Honeyhoover after the vacuum cleaner, nothing hits the floor that she doesnt know about it first!!!!
anyway, now that we have my 92 yr old dad living with us, its hard to monitor her feeding habits, unless i keep her away from him, which is difficult to do, he keeps slipping her pieces of his food, she is such a little begger and sits up and begs everytime shes allowed in the kitchen with him, its not much, but in time it may catch up with her.......!!!! she likes to play a lot, so i dont see a problem right now, but as she gets older, its best to just keep her on her regular dogfood diet, I feed her, NUTRO natural choice dog food, bite size, she seems to like it. sharon T. from oHIo

Mine used to hike in the woods with me, daily. but, since we moved in to town, she has become seriously overweight!
So, I would say exercise daily...get them to run and play games.
