The Catholic Church has so corrupted the Word of God with the beliefs and practices of Judaism and paganism that there is very little or no truth to anything they teach and do.
If you really want to know if the story about Jesus as recorded in the Word of God is real then ask God.
Just pray a simple prayer like the following:
Dear God,
I know that you are real but I don't know if Jesus is. Please show me if the story about Jesus is really real. I thank you in advance for answering my prayer.
Amen
If you want to know where the Ark of the Covenant is then go to this web site http://www.wyattmuseum.com/ It will give you all the details.

If you say you believe in God and you actually saw him in a near death experience- then why are you doubting the word of God. You yourself said it was2000 years ago. Do you really think that anything could have survived the last 2000 years - like the tablets of stone with the commandments on them, or the arc for that matter? Look at everything the Bible says - do you think that 2000 years ago when it was written that they would have known everything that has taken place now- that says it will in the Bible? How would they have known that unless it came from God. Also, the first 10% is to give God. God clearly states in the word that you should give to him and he will bless you. That is where the 10% comes from. I don't know about you, but I have found that to be true. God always makes a way if I give my 10%.
I just think you should feel blessed that you got a glimpse of what most people only have faith in, and you need to grow and know God better and trust his word. You can not have any doubt that he is real if he saved you from the pits of Hell.

1. Hundreds of manuscripts dating back to almost the 1st century show that the bible has kept its content integrity throughout the centuries.
2. Extra-biblical accounts of those such as Josephus, and others, testify to the existance of Jesus, the leader of a new sect, and poncius pilate.
3. The bible has proved time and time again to have been accurate when it comes to geography, and history. So why reject something you refuse to accept, when everything else has proven true.
4. Christians will tell you this: Dozens of prophecies that had been fortold centuries before were fulfilled by Jesus.
5. Your arguement that it's written by a mix of people is actually good, because you will notice how every other world religion was written mostly by one person or a little bit more. The bible was written by over 40 authors, but who lived over a period of 1400 years, in different places, at different times, from different aspects of life, from rich solomon to pauper paul.
The authors remain accurate about historical events, geography such as locations of towns, and also remains accurate to the geo-political senarios of the times, such as the Roman occupation, the Jewish exile to babylon etc. They also remain in accordance to the other books, even though the spectrum of authors is so huge. No other volume of books has such an origin.
6. The reason for the selection of just those canon(canon - books chosen to be in the bible) books of the bible and not the others was theological integrity. If you research anything, you'll find out that there were numerous sects, false teachers, con-artists, etc.
Think. I have a collection of books I have come to know to be true. They all agree with each other and there are no discrepancies. I come across a book. I'll use the Gospel if Judas. The author of the this gospel is unknown. The complete content is unknown because of manuscriptual damage. And the content that is known is contridictory to the rest of the books that I already have in their entirety, which I believe to be absolutely true, and all agree with each other. Also, I know the authors who wrote my books, and also know that the author was either an eye-witness or knew and eye-witness. Why would I include the Gospel of Judas with so much wrong with it?
-------------------------------------------------
Before you come to such foolish conclusions, research your material. You seem to have not any grasp of theology, history, or archeology.

Jesus is real, even historians have proof of His existence. And when trusting God a certain amount is left up to faith. If you want to learn more just study the Bible. God gave the Bible to us for us to learn from and as guidelines. A lot of questions are answered there. Also, about the church collecting money, its the tithe money. Churches are responsible for most fundraisers and mission trips... A lot of good comes from it. I have to agree though, that some churches take advantage of it. Actually, I keep my tithe money and ask God to show me what to do with it. That way I know it is going to something good. It has helped a lot of people. Also God has hidden many things from us like the Garden of Eden. Im not sure exactly why God keeps if from us but I know part of the reason is because of man. Some people would focus too much on it and it would become more of an idol. God doesnt want that. He has revealed many things though. Just talk to God about these things. Also the Bible is God-breathed and in it He talks A Lot about Christ.

If you believe in God, how can you not believe in Jesus?
They are the same people/spirits. You know of the 3 in 1? God, the Holy Spirit and Jesus, all the same person/spirit.
It's called Faith, of course we are going to question things here and there about the Bible and such, but if you are a true believer then you just have faith.
We see miracles happening around us every day: births, people live thru really bad car accidents, etc.
However, I do not agree with your comment about churches being stores and franchises and what not. A church is a sacred place, God's house.
I'm sorry that you think that church is a scam, I'll be praying for you.

Good, thought-provoking question.
Like you, I have little confidence in religion, but I am absolutely in love with the mystery of life. There is a love--- a conscious, aware, wise, intelligent presence that feels like a visceral ocean of love. That's what I know of God, because I have been in that ocean, but there's practically no mention of that supreme reality in any of the religions, except for some of the mystic writings.
The history of the Bible is really irrelevant to the experience of God. Anyone trying to prove the Bible to me is wasting their time, because God is not in the Bible. God is that living presence that fills me for as far as I can see.

first of all, the person of Jesus has been proven from a historical prospective. we know of his life, his teachings and his death.
what has not been proved yet, is that the embodiment of Christ, as promised by God was here in the form of Jesus.
we know the person lived and how He was put to death. it is the Godhead of Christ that must be taken by faith at this time.
as an amateur scientist, i am amazed at how much of the bible stories can be proven by simply reviewing the history of the tribes and by combing over the archeological remains of the cities mentioned in the bible.
we have proved much of the timing of the bible stories, in-line with their cities and the history of the cities prove the existence of the the persons....at some point faith must take over.

The christian religion is certainly on shaky ground, where making sense is concerned.
Keep in mind, though, that your own religious awakening is also suspect. Trauma to the brain in any form (such as almost dying, being deprived of oxygen, etc) can cause it to do things that it wouldn't normally do - like imagine its seeing god. Just because you saw something doesn't mean that it was actually there.
If you want to go about looking at religion skeptically, you've got to be skeptical of everything, not just christians.

no one has ever seen God!!he has never shown himself to man, except when he came in the form of man, Jesus. even moses and the people on mount sinai could not stand it when God wanted to pay them a visit, before he came..clouds and lighting struck and loud noises/thunders roared. the peolpe couldnt stand that. God himself covered the face of moses when he went down to see him and moses never ever saw his face. the bible also says no one who has ever seen God has lived.it also speaks of satan as an imoster an 'angel of light' decieving the people.you must be the blessed person to ever see God and live, proving his word wrong then!!!as for the vatican ...well they have distorted the word for their own agenda!!!

Blah, blah blah...
Face facts for once in your life, "jesus" was made up by the council of Nicea in 325 ad. Emperor constantine had two brothers, Judas Kristos and Rabbi Jesus amalgamated into one fictional character and then by show of hands, voted this new deity "divine".
Fun how history blows your mythology out of the water huh?
