There are no new models of the Shelby GT500. They were in limited production when they originally came out.
There is a company that is making another batch of GT500 replicas. Unique Performance
http://www.uniqueperformance.com/supersnakeGT500E.aspx
This is a Shelby authorized replica.
Corvettes never appealed to me once they started using the fiberglass bodys. The classic lines coupled with the current technology make the GT500 so much more desireable to me.

well the GT500 has 500hp from a supercharged 5.4 liter. The same engine from the Ford GT only it is not an aluminum block or heads, with a pulley change and some slicks the car will run in the low 11 no problem, you can also carry more than one person and fit your golf bag, luggage, or both in the trunk. It also has the styling of the new mustang, the only down side it the weight, it weighs almost 2 tons.
on the other hand you have the C6 vette, this is one bad car, it handles and accelerates, looks cool, and is truely a sports car. so its up to you with 400 hp in the C6 and 500 in the Z06 you can't go wrong, it up to you. I say both, if thats not an option then I would go with the GT500 because of the reason above, also the aftermarket is much bigger for the stang than the vette,

gotta be the gt500......its a refreshed version of a classic, its faster straight line and on road course than the z06, even with a "facelift", the vette has looked the same for a while....
