Well, if you are doing the dumping, then do it like this:

- pick a time when neither of you are stressed
- get some private time where you can be alone together
- explain clearly your reason (I'm sorry but I just think we're drifting apart and it's not working out anymore...)

Be prepared to answer any questions that he asks like 'Is it me?' 'Don't you like me anymore?'

Be kind and gentle in your replies, particularly if he is an emotional or sensitive guy (yes there are some out there!)

Once it's over, be strong - don't be tempted to go back out with him again if you feel a bit miserable in the period whilst you are re-adjusting to being single again.

~hope this helps

to be honest with you, none of these people here are giving you the right advise. the truth is there is no best way to end a long distance relationship. The only thing that I do warranty you is that he or she will appreciate your honesty. no one likes to be lied to. if you made up your mind all ready then just be straight up and honest about it. I don't think it would be very nice of you if you just stop answering the phone calls or e-mails. trust me I know I was In one not that long ago and it just wasn't going to work we loved each other very much but we just had to let go. now we are actually really good friends and we both have different partners. I guess you can say it work out for the best. no matter what someone allways gets hurt.

im in a ldr... its hard going.. i dont want things to end.. and some people dont seem to understand you can still be really close without seeing each other all the time...
i recommend talking it over with them.. say that the long distance makes things harder.. you wish things were easyer.. i suggest over the phone or IM.. just talk it over... perhaps suggest a break... then see what happens.. then wait until you see them again... see how you feel.. then break up.. like any other relationship......
but i can honestly say.. in my ldr.. its the closest i have ever gotten to someone.. and i wouldnt know what to do if it ended.. but as long as you are sure... go for it..

There is no best way, but if the long-distance relationship has been too difficult for you, just be honest and tell that person you're not doing this to hurt him/her, but you really can't do this anymore. All you can do is be honest. She/He will thank you for it later.

The simplest way is to just stop calling and emailing but that is not a very nice way.

You will have to do it over the telephone. Tell the person it is not working out (or whatever the reason you are breaking up with them). The truth is always your best bet because you don't loose credibility with that person.

Just be honest and say that you misjudged how you would like to be in a long distance relationship and wish the other person luck in the future.

I think its pretty much the same as ending any relationship, except your have the advantage of saying that's its too difficult to carry on because of the distance.

theres 2 wayz.
first just ignore the person. don't reply the e-mail, don't answer the phone wen he/she calls, just forget u ever knew the person.
OR
tell them straight up. it's not like u could see the person wen u tell them it's over just say tat this long distance thing isn't working 4 u & hang up!!

As with any relationship, be honest. That's the best way. Tell them it's over and why.
