i have a chihuahua she 4 years old but was once your chihuahuas age and she needed to be entertained as you say yours does... well i bought a little toy that you hide food in and they try to get it out and i put her favorite treat in it... and then i sat back and watched the fun begin in the family room and then while she wasn't looking left for work... i can back about 8 hours later and she was still working at it... and i guess she got bored of it for a bit because all her toys where everywhere... but she didn't destroy the house or anything so i was happy...so id recommend getting one of those and a basket of toys for it to easily get into and lock it in one room or area and let it have fun...

Turn on the TV for it, get lots of toys to play with and a good one is get it a doggie friend for it to keep it company during the day or night when you are away. It worked for me. I have a chihuahua.

Get someone to babysit it, take it to a doggydaycare or get it lots of toys, or if your hours are short enough, put it to bed while your gone so it has lots of energy when you come home.

try leaving something with a voice on, also try a kong or something, give them lotsa chew bones and stuff, i have a two year old chihuahua who loves dental bones.

Uh..it's a DOG!!! "Entertained"???? Shut the crate & let it ALONE!
It'll sleep for 20 hrs. a day!!!
