Yes, as long as you clean the containers out regularly. There was a myth going around a few months ago that the plastic in the bottles is toxic and slowly leaches into your drinks, but I don't buy that. The people at Snopes don't, either.

That depends on what you put in the container. Water is fine, and so are most beverages. I probably wouldn't put anything alcoholic in there--not for safety reasons, but have you ever seen alcoholic beverages in anything other than glass (or in the case with beer, aluminum) containers?

Also, how long are you planning on storing the liquid? Whatever it is, I'd fill the container as much as possible. A half full container leaves air that has bacteria and fungi that can grow over time. But if it's just temporary, then plastic containers are fine.

Yes, except don't use plastic milk containers. I don't think it is possible to get the milk out of it completely.

Sure, just make sure you wash out the soda left overs first... or you'll end up with soda flavored whatever...
