My Boyfriend and I have been talking about the future, including possible marriage. We both think that a 4th of July Wedding/Reception would be neat, and everyone would remember our wedding. But I would like it kind of formal, b/c I still want a formal wedding dress and tuxedos. Please help. thanks!! :)

I have thought of a couple ideas such, as sparklers, a wedding dress with white stars on it, navy tuxedos, red bridesmaids dresses, and possible fireworks, and having cheese cake for the wedding cake (b/c it's my bf and my favorite, and it's unusual-plus it tastes a WHOLE LOT BETTER than traditional wedding cake lol) So does any one have more ideas? I'd like to keep it as formal as I can-but kind of Country like and memorable--thanks for everyones help :)

I love the idea of a Patriotic Wedding! Make sure you include the patriotic music!

I'm searching for other websites that mention a 4th of July wedding or patriotic wedding. See the lists below!

This one has patriotic wedding accessories:

Patriotic Wedding Theme

July Brides and Grooms can opt for a patriotic wedding theme this summer. An outdoor wedding location is a must to enjoy the warmth and freshness of summer. Use colors and motifs of your flag in your stationery and decorations. The Bride and Groom can wear classic attire and spark things up with gemstone jewelry and ties in patriotic colors. Even the bride's bouquet can be made up in patriotic colors. Have a barbecue-inspired menu. You can even have a fireworks display at your reception!

Wow I think that would be fun!! If you do this make sure you have a light weight dress cuz it will be HOT!! Cheesecake is an awesome idea and you could top it with strawberries and blueberries for red, white and blue. Use the sparklers as the favors, They actually sell table decorations at party stores that look like fireworks and they come in a variety of colors. You could serve pepsi in the can at your wedding because its red white and blue as well. You could have so much fun with this theme!! Do whatever sounds good to you and the fiance, it's your wedding do what makes you happy! Best of luck.....

well have the mostly twinkly star like white dress with red and blue flowers. The men could wear blue tuxes (if it isn't too weird) I just think the black tuxes would not fit with the theme. But if they do wear black get a flashy vest to go under. Have some John Phillips Sousa marches as part of music. Maybe down the center where you will come in use a flag print as a red carpet kind of thing. or if that is disrepectful to the flag....have a white dress with red and blue on the trane some how like red stripes with blue stars on the trane.

I agree with the first answer, it's going to be hot that time of year. Another thing to consider is that a lot of people travel for the 4th of July, so make sure enough of your guests will show up. Other then that, you have some good ideas. If you can do the fireworks, you should, it would be really memorable.

to preserve the formal idea- make sure it is an evening wedding. people generally know these are more formal.
don't let it get costume-y or backyard bbq-ish and you should be fine.
your menu should also be more formal. if you have ribs and potato salad it will look casual.
consider patriotic music for the ceremony instead of the traditional wedding march tunes.
florals in red white and blue are very possible.
clear glass cylinders in varied heights for centerpieces. fill each w/ a dif. kind of berry. blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries. choose crisp white china to set off a navy linen tablecloth.

hope these ideas are helpful!

That sounds like a wonderful idea! I am very big into planning themed events. My wedding will also be themed:-) You have some wonderful ideas. I think that it would look pretty to have sparkley white stars hanging. Then you don't have to put them on your dress. You could also have some type of red/white/blue flowers put into your hair style. Another great idea (because its 4th of july) would be to have watermelon fruit sculptures. Watermelon is a big symbol of 4th of july. Your could have a rose, a heart, your names etc. carved into the watermelon! I hope this helps! Good luck!

A friend of mine got married around the 4th a couple years ago, and they gave the guests sparklers instead of birdseed, rice or bubbles, to wave in the air as they left the church.

i might like to circulate to a 4th of July wedding ceremony (optimistically, it is exterior!). yet, i like the sparkler thought. i in my opinion theory approximately that, in the previous I even study the full question. As for the cake, why no longer do a typical looking cake, yet with a sprint bit a twist. Do a typical vanilla or pound cake with clean strawberry filling. on the exterior of the cake, have it embellished traditionally, yet locate the thank you to apply clean, finished strawberries in the layout.

I dont think that will be a good idea because there is a holiday on your special day. And there is something else happening. If you get my flow. But you can do what ever you want. Its just one time that you have a special night just for you.
