None of the above. Hepatitis just means liver inflammation (swelling). It can be caused by any number of things. It sounds like your friend's hepatitis, alcoholic hepatitis, is not one of the contagious types, although he should have blood tests to make sure that he does not have hepatitis caused by a virus that is being made worse by drinking too much.
Contagious hepatitis would be caused by a disease organism (bacteria, virus, and/or parasite). The hepatitis types you mentioned - A, B, and C - are all viral and can be contagious.

You can't get hepititis from drinking too much. The only way to contract hepititis is from either sexual contact, or the blood of another person who had hepititis entering an open wound on his body.

Hepatitis when it's typed A. B. or C.. is virally acquired, so it's not going to be any of them.
When it's alcohol related it's not a result of a virus. So it's not a "type A, B. or C"
If he hasn't done too much damage (cirrosis - liver disease), the liver can fully recover.

In any case, he's killing his liver, which will kill him. I have Hep C which probably came from experimenting with intravenous drug usage. I acquired Cirrhosis from drinking too much. I then required, and fortunately received, a liver transplant. He has life threatening issues here. He HAS to stop drinking.
