All three, major religions of the West, Judaism, Christianity & Islam, originated in the Middle East, near the Tigris/Euphrates river valley.
Yahweh, God & Allah are the same god. The names sound different, because they are different languages. Jesus was a Jew, and Muhammed was heavily influenced in his travels by Judaism and Christianity. Each one broke off of the other and have been influenced by the cultures where they are in the majority.
There is no form to this God. This is why the polytheists, like the Romans, thought they were so crazy to have a god who couln't be seen, or who did not have a statue.
Although Jerusalem is a holy city to all three,
Judaism began in Ur, which is modern day Iraq.
Muslims see Abraham as their forefather, so that would mean they began in Iraq, rather than Saudi Arabia. (Muhammed is considered the last prophet, and he came from Mecca.) Christianity began in Palestine, also the Middle East.
Although we call these three "western," no major religion began in Europe or North America. When the Romans kicked out the Jews in 60 C.E., they also kicked out the Christians, which to them, seemed like a sect of the Jews. That's how Christians originally came to Europe. The Christianity that developed there is quite different from the Christianity expressed by Jesus in Palestine.
There are more similarities between these religions than differences.
"Religio,' the Latin word from which relion derived, has to do with the beliefs and practices that bring people together.

No. Many electronics trace their foundation to the city of Tokyo, but that doesn't mean that your camcorder is the same entity as your cellular phone. Many Motown artists trace their foundation to the city of Detroit, but this doesn't mean that the Supremes are the same entity as Marvin Gaye.
Also, there is only one God. God is not ambiguous; he does not change; he is eternal. To say that God has "different forms at different times" is a pagan thought--and pagans worshipped literal manmade gods.
Moreover, there is one fundamental and crucial difference between Christianity and every other Western religion: that crucial difference is Jesus Christ, the son of God, believed to be the Messiah and Savior of the World. No other Western religion is based on the Messiah. Maybe they are based on prophets, but not the Savior of the World.

Neither Israelis or Islamics believe that Jesus is the Son of God. They believe in the Old Testament only. Islamics quite literally practice the Old Testament values while those of the Christian faith practice the New Testament but still observe the Old Testament as proof of the Messiah. All agree there is one creator, but split over the Son.

The difference is in the belief of what happened after Abraham. Most Western religions accept the God of Abraham as the supreme being. The difference lies in whether they accept Jesus as the Messiah. Jews do not. Neither do muslims. Muslims also believe Mohammad is a prophet of God.

Very smart question. How fresh. i might could say I agree, yet i think of that it is an expression of the religion by Western lifestyle that places the emphasis on "machismo", rather than the religion itself. i think of that the Patriarchal impacts have been nicely in place in the previous the "huge 3" of the Western religions got here alongside, giving a "triumph over and dominate" spin on religions that would have in any different case been very non violent. Please positioned up greater questions right here.

No. Regardless of surface similarities, we have radically different ideas of what God requires for salvation, and those differences can't just be papered over and ignored as if they didn't exist. We have always acknowledged that we worship the same God- that is nothing new, and even the most ignorant Jew, Christian, or Muslim in the darkest slum understands that much. But our disagreements about Him are fundamental ones that distinguish us from one another very sharply.

Islam is NOT a western religion.
It originated in Asia and nearly all its followers are among the ignorant masses there. It is only now beginning to enter Europe, thanks to US, that great bastion of Christianity (LOL), opening the gates to them.

Take the word 'religion' out of the equation. Then ask people if they believe that Jesus died for their sins. Then you will have your answer. Take care.
