wow some of these answers scare me!!
Stripping the hair is when you remove all color pigment in the hair, especially when you've previously colored you hair & you want to get rid of the unnatural color. I'd leave this to a professional because if it isn't done properly it can result in a BIG mess. If you do plan on doing this yourself check you hair constantly

Stripping your hair is when you strip your hair of its unnatural color. I'm a natural blonde and my hair can turn kinda green from the cholrine in pools and stuff, so I get it stripped and the green comes out and then Im blonde again.

Its a really bad smelling chemical they use on your hair to strip out old color.

is when you are doing a color lighter than your natural color, take it down or up a shade or 2, using peroxide/bleaching etc.
