People have been dying for religion since the beginning of time. We really haven't progressed much as human beings since then. I say once we do away with religion then there will be know more fighting.....well actually there would be, but then they would just put the true label on WAR and what we are fighting for......
Land, money and power......leaders in the past and today just use religion as a front in order to get the "masses" to approve of their greed. Hell I'm an American and am a true believer in Capitalism. I would respect and support Bush a lot more if he just came out a said, "Yep we're over in Iraq because of the oil and the money/power it can bring the US." That's cool....where's my M16?

Even Jesus's followers were violent over their religious beliefs. Remember the story of the men that tore out the roof of a house to be able to lift a friend down to see Jesus because the doors and windows were already full of people? This was right before he was crucified and their last chance. So, they lowered their friend down on a stretcher so Jesus could heal him. That is violence. It has happened throughout time. Peace and harmoney come from within anyway. Then there was this guy that wouldn't give up his patch of ground, no matter what they did to him..... When you believe in something with all your heart you stand up for it. When people are unreasonable - it becomes violent or people die unfortunately

Where? Israel is bombing because palestinians kidnapped first one soldier, then a couple more. They've been fighting for 50 years, and its not about religion, its about land.
We're not in Iraq over religion either, first it was the possibility a mad man (Sadaam) had nukes, but regardless, he still has a history of murdering his own people.
The only place I can figure the fighing is about religion would be in Africa, where the fanatical muslims are raiding, mutilating and murdering those who won't convert.

Don't blame it on the religions, blame it on the fanatics. Some people take it a little too far and decide that all those who do not share that belief are not worthy of life. Add to that the fact that impoverished nations are far more susceptable to fanatacism and you've got terrorism. In turn the nation attacked retaliates and you've got death, some for religion, some in self defense.

Because people can not grasp that religion has nothing to do with spirituality. Read every religion, they are all praying to the same God, which is spirituality, but the rules, judgement and self-righteousness of their religions bring them to fight. They are hypocritical. People who are truly spiritual live in peace, they love all, they forgive and understand. So all we can do is try to pray for them so that one day they become more enlightened.

Jesus promises peace to his believers even though there will be trials on their lives. Jesus said that a servant is no greater than his master, if he was persecuted and tempted, so will be his followers. Jesus did not bring peace to the world. he brings judgment on them. Go read John15:18-24
Religion only brings peace and harmony to the believers only, not to the world.

Yes, I was just saying the other day how the nation of Israel is supposed to be full of the most religious people in the world, yet it is at the center of the area of the world that sees the most violence. For a bunch of religious people, they sure are violent! Isn't that dumb?

....yes mans view of God...how many times have you heard that the people doing the acts of violence in the name of allah dont even follow theyre own teachings? same with Christians...there is only one God and there shouldnt be divisions among people that believe on Him...if the teachings were truley understood and followed there would be no violence..so, men are the guilty party not God...and if we stamped out all religeon and became atheists' it wouldnt end the violence either...men are inherently evil and cruel and greedy and violent...i hate when the world always seems to want to blame God..its a copout and an excuse plain and simple.

Because everyone believes they're right and that everyone else who refuses the "truth" is an infidel or sinner or etc.....Religion isn't going to bring peace because it is MAN'S view of God.

radical fundamentalism. People take gods name in vain to accomplish their own wicked schemes. Being christian is totally opposite of this, and makes those of us who believe in the true gospel of Jesus Christ look the same when we're not. ( it's been going on for thousands of years, even before Christ) We have been witnessing this since the time of Christ, and nobody's listening.....
Matthew 24: 6-14
You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7) Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places 8) All these are the beginning of birth pains. 9) Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all Nations because of me. 10) At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other. 11) and many false prophets will appear and decieve many people. 12)because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold 13)but he who stands firm in the end will be saved 14) and this gospel of the kingdom will be preached to all Nations..... ( But "us christians" continue to preach the gospel out of love and the forgiveness of Christ and yet we are still persecuted for it, but we remain standing firm in Christ.)
2 Chronicles 7:14
If my people, who are called by my name, will pray and humble themselves and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. All America needs to do is turn to God.
