we test drove one. I'm very dissapointed in the horsepower drop between the xr awd and non awd. (70 hp difference) . seems to handle ok. Anyone own an 03 matrix xr awd or newer? have any problems? hows customer service at toyota? I heard they had fuel pump problems in 02. I dont even know if they're making them in 07.... any info would help out.

I actually called toyota and emailed them showing my displeasure for the making of the matrix...

Great car but the HP difference form the two wheel drive version to the AWD version, is just stupid they went backwards with the numbers.....

If your going to get into that just get the 07 Dodge Caliber, more HP More room, and they offer an AWD setup!!!!!

I have one it is very good, the back seats comes down and make a good bed to sleep. Matrix does'nt use a lot of fuel. There is lots of places to put stuff in. And the pricas are $15,000 -$25,000.I own one for about 2 years now and toyota services are good. I own an 04 Matrix and i think the 07 will be even better than the previous ones.

The only problem they have is a blind spot where the rear of the car comes up higher. I used to sell toyotas, and Matrix really is a good car. They are very versatile. All my customeras loved them. They makes an xrs sports edition that will compensate for the horsepower. They are harder to find however. Anti lock break are not standard, so make sure yours has them if you want them...

you may be disappointed about the horsepower drop, buy if it's for your wife, that may not be a major concern for her...unless she wants to drag race....my brother and sister in law have a Matrix and have found it very reliable and economical to drive and it has a lot of cargo room, which may be what your wife cares more about. Toyota makes good, solid, reliable vehicles in general. I"ve driven a Rav4 for 5 years with NO mechanical problems, and routine service at the dealer is fast and fair.

hope this helps a bit...
