The best thing to do (the most time saving) is to go all the way down 35 to Laredo cross the border and take the next exit towards Monterrey (this is all very self explanitory, there are signs EVERYWHERE), then comes Saltillo, after that is Zacatecas. From Zacatecas its about 5 hours you will go through Jerez then Tepetongo after that is Huejucar and Santa Maria de los Angeles. You will pass colotlan, Momax Tlaltenango and keep going. You will get to the "San Cristobal de la barranca" be very careful driving, especially at night. Even though it's only a fraction of the drive it is very dangerous. The buses have a hard time turning and sometimes "eat" up your lane, drive slow and defensively. Keep going and you will hit Zapopan(Guadalajara). It is a very simple drive you don't have to make too many exits. Have fun. Good luck and be careful.

whichever route you choose, even if it takes a little longer, make sure u choose one with a change of scenery every so often, travelling through desert for 5 hours can get very tiresome. or even winding through hills for a couple of hours, ive travelled to Puerto Vallarta a lot by car from Houston. its about 20 hrs depending on ur driving. sometimes we make stops at interesting cities or to visit family. and try not to drive at night. rest and wake up early.

You have to do 3 hits of acid first. Then get out of the car, find a dark room and imagine yourself there.
