Does the Silmarillion's explanation of death as a great gift from Illuvatar make more sense than the ordinary Christian understanding of death as punishment for sin?

Dont know what the Silmarillions expaination of death is... there are two references of death in the Bible... the physical death and the death of the soul, which are you referring too?

Not understanding your question, let me say this, as long as I keep my heart right with God and continue to live my physical life as he has commanded then my physical death is actually a reward to me so that my soul may live with God forever
