It's healthier not to! They will shed out any coat they don't need. The coat provides valuable protection from the sun and insects. If you do have him clipped, leave at least 2 inches of coat - that will keep him from getting a sunburn.

It will probably make the poor dog look wierd.... Actually, there fur should be left on & not shaved. It helps protect them & is a cooling method for them--so says the Dog Show I just watched this past weekend. I know an acquaintance that shaved her Golden Retriever & now that was dumb!!! The kids even made fun of the dog. It looked terrible. I had a old Golden Retiever that I trimmed her up, but never shaved. The fur is there for a reason! Dogs rule...

The only way to tell if he'll look stupid or not is to do it and see. Its only fur, and it will grow back (Rather quickly). I think most dogs look good shaved down, and I'm assuming yours has long fur. Take him to a groomer and see what they're opinion is. But I say go for it! Give your pooch a stylin' new look!

:) My mom has a collie and I have to say he looks miserable in this heat. Just yesterday my brother and cousin and I were tossing around the idea of giving him a fade. I think he would appreciate it, and not know if he looked stupid and we'd still love him so what's the big deal?
So I vote, yes, too bad my mom overrides us, at least you don't have to listen to her :)

It's OK to shave your dog for practical purposes (to keep him cool or clean). You can also ask your groomer to do a "puppy cut" that isn't so short.
You'll need to apply sunscreen on any exposed skin. You'll also need a jacket for him in winter. You can use sunscreen for humans on him if it's PABA-free or is zinc oxide ointment (also used for diaper rash). There also is sunscreen made just for dogs.

Yes its ok. He will probably love it since its summer and its so hot outside. And if it looks stupid, oh well, its just hair..it wll grow back pretty quickly.

Anything that is not natural, is probably not as good as natural?? It will make him look stupid!! He/or she has the type hair that they have for a reason!!

i have a begal schnauzer mix and me and my boyfriend got the clippers out and shaved him ourselves. he looks so cute. but hey its fur it will grow back. i say do it.

what style of pink are we speaking right here? Ariana grande pink? Rihanna pink? anyhow, i think of you may completely warm with pink hair! I say decide for it, I certainly think of you may pull it off. :P As on your different %. on there, you may desire to truly delete those of you nude! there is pervs at right here.
