Rabies is tramsmitted through the saliva of an infected animal, entering through a wound in the skin of the recipient of the bite...as long as the bats haven't been biting you and yours, there is nothing to worry about.
Just get rid of the bats.... There are many bats in the area where I just moved from, and they haven;t given any one rabies....Just don't handle any bats, and make sure your pup doesn't play with any dead or dying ones.
Bats are a major carrier of rabies, but most bats don't attack humans or pets... they only bite if they are captured or handled.

If your puppy does have rabies, then chances are you have rabies, the rabies shots consist of seven shots and cost around $3,000.00 !!! People do not realize how easy it is to get rabies, and if it is not treated the outcome is death if caught to late. The other replies are correct the puppy needs to be quarantined for at least 10 days. Most puppies of that age, do not show signs of aggressive behavior loss of use of limb bitten, they just usually die, and or start to loose balance, auditory failure, then death, and I hope you know the only way they can tell if your puppy has rabies is to put it down, then the vet sends its head into a university and or lab for testing. I know horrible mental picture but that can be are horrors of nature. Please just take all precautions possible! All people exposed to this dog will need to be given shots, if the puppy licked someone that even had a hang nail, that's enough for the rabies to carry into the human. Go to your vet this will take alot off of your mind!

Try Contacting an exterminator / zoo for the bats, and for the puppy's sake, keep her at a different address so she has a slimmer chance of getting rabies.

You have bats in your attic all right! Unless your dog has been bitten by a rabid bat, he can't possibly have rabies. Don't worry! Get rid of the bats, and take an aspirin.

Rabies is awful for dogs; I would suggest sending her away for a while. If such a thing is impossible, just keep an eye on her AT ALL TIMES. At night, crate her in a cozy (smaller sized) cat crate with a solid or metal door - none of that chickenwire junk.
And get yourself that rabies shot; it's a really nasty thing. *cringe*

Don't worry about rabies unless you see a sick bat crawling around in the daytime. Most bats and other wild animals do NOT have rabies, but they can so avoid them.
The BIGGEST problem you've got is that bat guano (poop) and urine can be toxic to sensitive people and you could all become seriously ill, even become blind.

DON'T try to clean it up yourselves - call a professional cleaner that is certified to clean up toxic material (like asbestos) and pest debris.

the best thing to do is to is to take ur puppy to the vet and also go to your doctor and get a checkup for yourself because remember rabies is highly contagious and you don't want to take any chances and have ur puppy get that shot as soon as possible
good luck
