It caters to our inherent egocentrism as humans.
ie: we are God's favorite creation, He watches our every move, we are above all other animals, everything was put here for us, He sacrificed His son for us, etc.
These things seem to me to support the idea that all of this was made by us. The original creators probably had no idea, but were obviously putting themselves in very high regard, and in doing so showing that it was not a higher power that dictated these things, but their own sense of self-worth.

You are getting off the track..... we are God's favorite creation, He watches our every move, we are above all other animals, everything was put here for us, Till here every thing is right. But when u say that He sacrificed His son for us, it is non sense.
God do not have any son or father. he is the eternal. when all other things were not created, he was present. It is he who has created everything. being a father is the sign of being human being. He is not a human being. he is God...He is Allah...The Greatest.
Now ur second para... how can u conclude that all whatever u mentioned made u feel that it was made by us... Just read ur question carefully, it is you only who is telling that he made everything 'FOR US' not 'BY US'.
I think you are very much confused.... Read Quraan and you will find the answer to your question.

The idea of a supreme being, if you believe it, is so much more vast than man can even imagine, that I believe religion, as we know it, must have been man made. Stories, passed down in many languages, before anything was written, tend to become distorted and expanded, as in the game of telephone, where the end is nothing like the beginning. Also, some religious practices were devised, by the leaders and teachers, to control and for health reasons. Today, you could ask yourself, how could a "religious person" condone all the intolerance and killing in the name of God!?

I did not answer any of your question before so let me take on this one.
LOL. Actually funny. You reached to the wrong logical conclusion after reading some of Old Testament New Testament and Qur'an. You need a detailed study of all three books than you will know that it is truth from God. One God our creator.
BC - I don't claim to have complete knowledge of Old Testament and New Testament because I did not read it cover to cover but I do refer to these two scriptures from time to time to look into any particular subject.
The message of all these scriptures is the same that there is One God. There Prophets the stories we have are in sync with some variations. God ask me to look into the previous scritpures where I can find the signs of God in them. So the logical conclusion is that it is from the same God and Christians Jews and Muslims worship the same God with their own understanding. The message is no man made.
PS: I can answer you the questions that we are chosen people but that will be from Qur'an and it will offend Christians and Jews and that is not my objective on Yahoo.

I guess that makes every other religion man made
but wait, how was this world created??? dont tell me big bang theories, what created the big bang, what created the concept of time, what created all those laws of nature?? if they existed how did they exist???
dont u think that makes u think there's a higher power???
I'm a muslim and i believe in islam
but up till now i dont think this whole "nature created itself" theory is true
if u convince me i'll say u're right

If the history and lessons of the Bible were man made it would almost certainly be about self-worship and self gratification. The simple nature of human beings is it's all about me, me ,me , me. The Bible is about God worship, pleasing God, & obedience to God. Since the Bible is all about being subserviant to God your premise is flawed.
