People are not afraid of death, how can they be death is something that we cannot feel, touch, have or comprehend.
I think you will find that people are scared of DYING because it is something that will happen to them.
IF heaven exists, not everyone would get in anyway.
People do not know how they are going to die or when so that is why they are scared of dying.
But scared of Death???
cant happen

Death is a natural part of life, it is an event that we without exception must go through, I have been in the presence of many people who are dying and have subsequently died. From what I have seen only in a few cases has the person actually been terrified with the thought that death is on its way. After death however, there is a distinct difference. What you are looking at is nothing but a shell that housed the entire essence of the person that was - the soul. The soul having left the body is with God. I am a strict Catholic and I believe that when we die Heaven is being with and in the presence of God - Hell is the complete absence of the love of God. I too had a "near death" experience after a serious accident in 1998 after having 2 cardiac arrests! to say that one had died and has come back to life is a falsehood true death is the death of the brain 3 or so minutes after the heart has stopped and you would be in a PVS if that were to occur due to anoxia. From what I can remember I did not see bright lights, a tunnel, my family members waiting for me on the otherside or even God or an Angel waiting to take me to Heaven. I just remember it being absolutely black and warm and not feeling the least bit afraid.

Hmm so am I uppercase, lowercase, single consonents and numbers which have no numerical value!!
However; I have been a spiritualist for a good number of years and have no fear of death. What I do fear is the act of dying, gasping my last breath, will I suffer, will I be terrified?
I am told that there is no pain at the point of death, however I still fear it, I would not be normal if I didn't.
As for death itself, If say, my beliefs happen to be wrong, then I didn't exist for billions of years after the universe came into being and I cannot recall any suffering, then came into this world briefly, died 82 years later and will know nothing ever again. What is there to fear in this?
If I am right, then I will know I am an immortal being and nothing can ever hurt me, ever. What is there to fear in this?
What I fear is the small amount of uncertainty I possess, because sometimes even I think the thought of being immortal is too fantastic a story to be true, although on balance, over the years I have studied spiritualism, I have had many personal experiences and heard many anecdotes that prove life after death and have not heard a single one which proves that it does not.

I am not afraid of death nor am I afraid of dying to a certain extent. If I was to die while sleeping, I wouldn't know it.
If I am in a horrific accident, I would be afraid of dying mainly because my family would be there. Having to hear my husband & my daughter crying and praying to the Lord to let me live, and the same with other family members, especially my mother. Praying to God to let me live. I think you get my explanation.
I am ill and I know that death can come to my door at anytime, but I also know that if I have not accomplished what the Lord wants me to do then I will be here until that has been done.
I hope this will help clear up some of your mixed messages.

Yes, you are right. It is a mixed message, and it is so because it is a false message. There is no "Heaven" where one can go to after death. The only place we have is Earth, and the only time we have is our life. If we make the best of it, it can be "heavenly", and if not, it can be "hell", but there is no independent place of "heaven" or "hell" outside our world and life.
If the teachings of the Christian churches would be correct, then people should be glad to die and in fact queuing up for it in happy anticipation. But since all organised religions are built on lies, it is obvious that our human instinct is stonger than the religious teachings and doctrines we hear.

People are afraid of death because they do not really accept that there is a heaven or a life hereafter. i have had the experience of being with many people as they approach death. In general I have found that those who have a faith in God are not afraid and, in many cases welcome the passing over.
Sometimes however there is a sadness at leaving behind those whom they love, especially when they worry that the survivor will find it difficult to cope without them.
I personally, have not the remotest fear of death but , as the joke goes, ' I don't want to be around when it happens'. By that I mean I am apprehensive about suffering beforehand.

As a born again christian, I am sure that I will go to heaven when I die. However I understand the fear of death itself. People fear the unknown & many do not know where they are going to go when they die. That's why most christians no longer have that fear. And I think the mere thought of leaving behind family & loved ones and all we have here, is in a way, scarey. And also people fear the way they will die, ie. the amount of pain & suffering they may have to endure. Hope this has helped.

Yes they are afraid, and do you know why? Because they aren't sure that they are good enough for God and won't go to heaven. They are uncertain about what lies a head, so death is scary for them.
I believe in heaven and I know its a real place. I also know that I have a first clas ticket to heaven too. Not because I'm a good man becuase I'm not I'm just like everybody else. I don't deserve to go there, I deserve Hell like everybody else. But I am going to heaven and I'm not afraid of death. Do you want to know why? Contact me if you really want to know how you to can know how to get to heaven. This is no hoax, no joke, I can tell you how to get a first class ticket too. This is the only way.

I think people are afraid of the unknown and also afraid they may not have finished what they need to finish. I find many are afraid of the "pain" and also concerned for those left behind. Paul talked about this when he said he wished for heaven but knew God still required him to be here. Is not a "mixed message" merely and incompleat message.

Not everyone's afraid of death; think of the tibetan monks who set fire to themselves to stop the chinese finding their sacred scrolls during the invasion of Tibet.
You have to have a very strong belief that you're going to come back/move on or a very strong urge to save someone or something else from danger to get over the primitive fear of the dark that death represents.
If we all KNEW there was an afterlife think how differently we might behave, that's why so many religions try to persuade us of heaven.
