Besides being God's home, it is also the seat of Government.
God is not only our creator but our Judge, so he has to have a court room.
Also since there are 144,000 going there, there has to be a meeting place for them to get their assignments. These people are to be Priests and Kings with Christ. (Revelation)
We also know that there is a place to sit beside God, and Jesus has one side already, so someone will sit in the other chair.
Jesus also told the questioner about many homes he was preparing for his apostles who went to heaven.
Finally, there is a description of God's Kingdom on earth when it arrives already in your bible...In revelation....look it up.
