I'm open to all interpretations, but I really don't need a page of bible verses because I have one that I could read just as easily, thanks!

He was preparing Himself spiritually for His ministry, which began immediately after that time & ended about 3 years later at the crucifixion and resurrecdtion. The only revelations we are privy to are the 3 temtations of satan: to turn the stones to bread, to have the angels come catch Him as He fell & to receive all the riches of the earth. By surviving those trials (and undoiubedtly others that aren't recordede) He was spiritually prepared to hold up for the duration of his teaching and time on earth.

He didn't have any revelations...he was tempted of Satan.

1) Satan tempted Jesus when he was hungry to turn the stones on the ground into bread. Jesus replied: "It is written that man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God."

2) Satan tempted Jesus to throw himself off of the temple sepulchure and have his angels save him to prove to everyone that he truly was the Son of God.

3) Satan then tempted Jesus by taking up to a high mountain and showing him the whole entire earth. Satan told Jesus that Jesus could rule over the entire earth if he would just bow down to Satan.

I believe that Jesus went through these temptations in order to give us an example of what we are supposed to do when we are tempted: Use Scripture!

Jesus declared that not what goes into the stomach, but what comes out of the heart(evil thought, fornications, theft, murder, etc.) is defiling.
Jesus fasted for 40 days to be in one with God. A time to pray and reflect on our connection with the Lord. To figure out what is important in life. Is it the pleasures we have, see and touch, or is it much greater than all! Our relations with the Lord. Jesus fasted so he will show us that even him must do it. Do as I do, not only do as I say, but not do. It is to strength us as believer, and make us come closer to our maker.

I kept it short to the point, hope that helped.

Funny parallel in this story...Moses also wandered in the desert for 40 days prior to coming upon the Oasis where he met his eventual wife. PEACE!

I think he spent 40 days in the desert because Buddha spent 44 days in the desert. Jesus was trying to 1 up the Buddha but he couldn't take the heat. That's why he just settled with stealing the water walking technique.

He spent 40 days in the desert because..he wanted to have..special time with his father..when ever I want to start fasting i try to stay away from people and....means no one can destruct your prayers......I cant explain really but it needs you and your God alone....like having aspecail meeting. ..since the desert was not busy..he thought it wound serve his purpose...

Not much is known about the 40 days itself but we know a great deal about what happened at the end of the 40 days. Jesus was hungry. (Don't you love the UNDERSTATEMENT!) But tempted means-----

1) to try whether a thing can be done

a) to attempt, endeavour

2) to try, make trial of, test: for the purpose of ascertaining his quantity, or what he thinks, or how he will behave himself

a) in a good sense

b) in a bad sense, to test one maliciously, craftily to put to the proof his feelings or judgments

c) to try or test one's faith, virtue, character, by enticement to sin

1) to solicit to sin, to tempt

a) of the temptations of the devil

d) after the OT usage

1) of God: to inflict evils upon one in order to prove his character and the steadfastness of his faith

2) men are said to tempt God by exhibitions of distrust, as though they wished to try whether he is not justly distrusted

3) by impious or wicked conduct to test God's justice and patience, and to challenge him, as it were to give proof of his perfections.

Jesus refused to turn stones to bread. He refused to be tricked into jumping off a high mountain. He refused to bow down and worship satan even if it meant satan would give him the world. I guess Satan is going to be the last to realize WE WEREN'T HIS TO GIVE! ;-0

If you look at most faiths, they all have people who go out to be alone to talk to the spirits. Normally it also involves fasting, not sleeping and meditating.

I guarantee if you stop eating, sleeping and shut yourself off from any communication from the outside world, you too will have revelations and think someone is talking to you.

I guarantee it.

He knew that all that deprivation would cause him to trip his brains out to the point that he could mistakenly believe he had the power to heal lepers, turn water into wine, etc.
Religious revelation mimics psychosis.
