It doesn't actually need any basic tenets, does it? -- Once you've chosen reality, you don't need to be reminded to choose it again every day.
I suppose you could cite the Atheist's Ten Commandments, but even that isn't absolutely necessary.

Not really. Atheism is simply a belief that no god exists. It's not a "tenet" so much sense that implies that atheism itself is a religion.
You could argue that atheism is a form of religion because the belief that no god exists is an act of faith since it is a non-provable conjecture, though most atheists would disagree and the word itself actually just indicates a "non-theist" or "one that lacks belief in a god". Non-belief in a god is not quite the same a believing there is no god.
There's a fun quote from Stephen Roberts that goes:
"I contend that we are both athiests, I simply believe in one fewer Gods than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all other possible Gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours."

There are no 'tenants" to atheism because it is not organized. It is a religion, however, because it describes the belief structure that a person uses to manage their lives.
An atheist manages his/her life based on whatever suits them at the time. Nothing governs their actions except themselves.
Is this a good thing? In light of how imperfect, mistake prone, cruel and selfish humans have demonstrated themselves to be throughout history the answer to this question seems to be self evident.

The basic tenet should be:
Because there is no God, atheists take care of this planet in the best way that is humanly possible.

The meaning of Atheism is:
1. Disbelief in or denial of the existence of God or gods.
2. The doctrine that there is no God or gods.
Godlessness; immorality.
Having faith denotes the fact that you would
have to believe in something to actually follow
it.
An Atheist just chooses to discount the existence of a
supreme creator or god. If you followed a doctrine of
some kind, it would mean you DID believe in something
other then evolution or random creation.

Yup.
Just remember the difference between reality and fantasy and you can't go wrong.
Or as someone once said "measure the world based on what is said about it. You will soon discover that god is a myth".

Atheism is not a religion. It is the rejection of religion.

No - we are free to believe in whatever we want, when we want, why we want....the only basic principle is that you make your own future, you make your own decisions, and nobody has control over you or your life.
Unlike every, I mean every religion....

Yes.
God does not exist in fact.
Which means there is no credible evidence to support any such belief.
