I'm about to buy a car with Salvage Certificate (not Salvage Title) and i was told that i would not be able to apply for a title in Maryland in my name because its is a Salvage Certificate and not Salvage Title. in order words, they are saying maryland or other states only recognize Salvage Titles and Not salvage certificate. Is this true? If not how can i apply for a Title in my name with Salvage Certificate.

Salvage certificate is often called a junk title, issued to a vehicle that is to be used for parts only. You can never get a title for the vehicle since it can never again be licensed for street use. PARTS ONLY.

A salvage certificate indicates that the car was intended to be used for parts only. In some cases you can have a tilte applied for but that depends on the status of the vehicle when they pull it up at MVA.

Just my advice, DO NOT BUY THAT CAR!!! You will have the hardest time trying to title it and once you get tired of trying that, you'll be trying to sell it and you'll have just as hard a time finding someone to buy it.
