mid-size pickup truck that gets decent mpg and can do really good offroad for under 25,000???

While I can't give a specific model, I can give a little advice on things to look for. Personally, I *think* some of the Toyotas work well -- they are used by military and paramilitary groups throughout the third world.

First, keep the wheelbase as short as possible. A long wheelbase will drag when cresting hills and on many obstacles. Second, look for a steep angle of attack -- stick a yardstick running from under the front bumper to contact the front tire. The more vertical that yardstick is, the steeper the obstacles you can climb.

i would get either a gmc canyon crew cab or a toyota tacoma prerunner. their great hauling mid size trucks and get decent mileage.whatever you do dont get a dodge dakota.your better off going off road on a car.

toyota...for the mpg you want. or get into 4x4 all the way..get an old beater an fix it up..for a 25k investment, you can have a monster!!!!!
