Please don't think I am discounting your concerns, I just want you to realize that there are a lot of possibilities besides depression:
1. Have you had your first period yet? It could just be your body gearing up for it.
2. If you have started your cycle, are you sexually active? Could you be pregnant?
3. Do these periods of fatigue seem to fluctuate with your menstrual cycle? Do they get better and worse on a monthly basis? If they do, some over the counter medication for PMS might help. I have known some girls to take Geritol (a multivitamin for people 50 and older) to help with fatigue and discomfort.
4. Do you get enough iron in your diet? Could you be anemic? Red meat and spinach are two good sources.
5. Do you get enough vitamin B? It's important for maintaining nerve cells and making red blood cells. "potatoes, bananas, cereal, lentils, chili peppers, tempeh, liver, turkey, and tuna. Nutritional yeast (or Brewer's yeast) is an especially good source of Vitamin B."
6. Are you really sleeping a lot, or are you staying up late and sleeping all day? I've done that before and wondered why I was so tired, only to erealize it was because I hadn't slept more than four hours a night in over a week.
7. If it lasts more than two weeks, it could be depression. A doctor won't diagnose until then. If your regular doctor wants to put you on antidepressants or anti anxiety drugs, INSIST on a referral to a psychiatrist.
At your age, especially being female, your body chemistry is already fluctuating wildly. Also, most psychiatric medications haven't been tested in children and they could cause unexpected side effects. If you start putting drugs into your system that mess with your brain chemistry, you really need a specialist to manage your treatment.

It sounds like you might be experiencing depression. Of course, there are many things going on with your body at 14 years old, however you might want to talk to your family doctor about your symptoms. Your doctor can then also rule out any physical reasons for what you are experiencing. Take some time to thing about what has been going on in your life recently. Have there been any changes? Sometimes sudden changes or ongoing changes cause stress which your body reacts to (physically and mentally) Whatever the cause is, if you are not comfortable with how you are feeling or behaving, then it's worth doing something to help yourself feel better! You can find surveys online to check for depression, anxiety, alcohol/drug issues, etc.

Clinical depression is caused by a chemical imbalance. It is not something you can just snap out of. If you broke your arm, you'd go to the doctor and get it put in a cast, right? If you got an infection, you'd take antibiotics, wouldn't you?
Depression results in a physical problem with many of the symptoms you described. There is nothing wrong with taking medicine to restore your chemical balance.
Tell your mom or your school nurse how you feel. Then, go see a doctor as soon as possible. In a month or two, you should be feeling great again.

no those are not normal feelings. it sounds like you may have a case of depression. first thing you need to talk to a parent or guardian. then go see a doctor.
if you don't want to talk to a doctor then try to work it out in your head. Do you have fun when you are with your friends? then maybe you just need to convince yourself that you need to go have fun. I'm sure once you get out of the house you will be happier. i know this sounds crazy but go sit out in the sun for a while sometimes that helps and makes you feel more energized. you have been in the air conditioning all day it sounds like. go outside in the sun and get some fresh air every time you feel sleepy. try waking up with a positive attitude, as this will help with the day. best wishes.

You are in stage one depression---get some help on this or it will get worse---it is not so much the sleeping ---that is a by product---it's this "in my mind I keeps thinking what's the point in doing anything"---there it is---talk to someone about this and get some help---it's nothing on you--you didn't bring this on yourself and there's nothing at this point to be ashamed of--it is simply a thing that some people have to go through on their way through life

Sweetie, this is a form of depression. First please let your parents, school administrator, or some other familiar adult know how you are feeling, so that they can help you. These are not normal feelings for a 14 year old girl. I hope that everything goes well for.
