Illegals seem to expect things to be handed over to them (i.e. citizenship, education, health care, welfare, etc.) simply because they're oh-so-poor and "only came here for a better life" and all that crap. Next thing you know they'll be demanding farm land and animals since as they claim Americans don't do farm work.

David, if I were in another country that was faltering I would stay right there and help build it into a wonderful country from the ground up. One thing I would NOT do is sit around and have 6 or 7 kids with no way to pay for them. It's called personal responsibility.

Sometimes you really need to think about it from the opposite point of view. These illegals, they have children, and they see all the problems in their own countries, and they know America will accept them and their children, so their kids do not have to go through the hardships they went through. Are you honestly telling me if you had the ability to, you wouldn't escape a country so your children could have a safe future? In America, you can truly start with nothing, and end up with everything you want. It is our way of life, it's a healthy way of life, so why restrict people who can enjoy the benefits? Most Americans don't even know what Mexico or any other foreign country is like. Freedoms and things we take for granted here are cherished and envied by people in other countries. Even if your poor in America, you can still go to school with the rich kids, you can still have a job. It's not the same everywhere else.

What the U.S. really needs to do, is instead of blowing off billions of dollars on a war that is not slowing down, use that money to improve the quality of life in countries such as Mexico, our neighbor, thus decreasing the number of people who feel they need to escape their country illegally for a better life. All the money the U.S. has spent on this war, could've fed and nourished all the starving people in the world for several decades, give vaccinations to children that need them, improve AIDS research and sexual education, basically, improve the way of life for several millions of people. I think the fact that the U.S. has no interest in doing this shows where the government's priorities are.
