Toyota. They are practically indestructible. I've owned a Dodge, a Ford, a Nissan, and 2 Toyotas and the Toyotas were the best cars by far. Toyota is the BEST; Honda isn't bad either. Whatever you do, don't buy a Ford/Lincoln/Mercury unless you want a total piece of crap that falls apart on you!!

A used Civic is a great bet but make sure to get the Vehicle History Report and any info on previous owner(s) and modifications. Many of these have been raced or beat up by kids. Some have been modified by people who don't know how to work on these cars. So you could get stuck with a nice looking Civic but one which was beat up and is loaded with cheap aftermarket performance mods. You DO NOT want to own one of those.

I would recommend something with a 10 yr 100,000 mile warranty on drive train. I think if you buy a used Kia or Hyundai mid size or compact you can get a car with some warranty left on for the $6000 you have to spend. That way if something goes wrong it is covered. In fact these cars are why you can buy them new for almost no money down as long as you're employed, in my area $500 or less and you can get a loan since all repairs on a new one are covered.

Probably a used Jeep Wrangler or a used corolla or small vehicle, since the gas prices are crazy!

Look for a good used Honda Civic ...they are the best reliable transportation I have ever had. If you care for them when they need it, they can last up to 300,000 miles.
