Really Easy Breakfast Ramen
July 14th, 2006
Submitted By: Rada
Submitted From: Copenhagen, Denmark

Rada wants to know, “What happened to the really *easy* egg ramen recipes, that dont become blasphemous or complicated?”

Ingredients

1 package of Ramen (Any flavour)
1-2 eggs
1 onion
1 tomato (Not big)
Put just enough water in a casserole to be able to cover the block of ramen. While you wait for it to boil, cut some slices of tomato and onion. When the water has boiled, put in the ramen and seasoning, then cover with a nice layer of tomato and onion slices, and pour a whole egg on the top. Put on a lid, wait for it to boil just enough for your liking and serve!

This tastes just absolutely delicious, and gives you a good start in the morning.

Bad-*** Bacon Ramen
July 2nd, 2006
This one is really simple, but I’m a sucker for bacon. I also discovered a cheap, but excellent way to get minimal quantities of bacon. Go to the meat counter and get the bacon they sell. If you only need 4 slices for a recipe, you only have to buy 4. Best of all, the bacon is thicker and tastes better.

Submitted By: The Ramen Lover
Submitted From: Austin, TX, USA

Ingredients

1 packet of Oriental style noodles
4 Slices of Bacon chopped
A Few Chopped Green Onions (optional)
1 Dash of worcestershire Sauce
Fry up the bacon, and then drain. Pour out all but 1 or 2 table spoons. In the pan
add the seasoning packet and stir. Prepare the ramen according to the directions, and then pour this wonderful fluid all over. Top with a few green onions and a dash of worcestershire and you have a meal that will make you useless on the couch in no time!

Alpha’s Lemon Ramen
June 6th, 2006
Submitted By: Alpha
Submitted From: Boston, USA

Ingredients:

1 Packet Chicken Ramen
1 Can Tuna
3 or 4 Pieces of broccoli (omit if your a broccoli hater)
Pinch/Clove of garlic
Dash of Mrs Dash chicken seasoning
Dash of Lemon pepper
Lemon or lemon juice to taste
Soy Sauce
Break the ramen up when its in teh bag. I use the blunt end of a knife because I’m badass like that. Cook as directed, but add a little more water then you would normally use.

When the ramen is cooked to your liking, stirin the seasoning packet. Keep it at a boil.

Throw in the broccoli now. I know some people are deathly afraid of the stuff, so you dont have to.

Put in a GOOD amount of Mrs dash and lemon Pepper. I used about the same amount of both, but about 5 good shakes of the shaker.

Put in your garlic. A fair pinch or good clove will do the trick, but dont overuse it.

Give it a good squeeze of lemon juice, or drop in an 1/8th slice of a lemon.

Dump in your soy sauce (I used one resturant packet). Also add your can o
tuna now.

Its a bit high on the sodium, but damn good.

A New Way to “Freebase” Ramen
June 4th, 2006
Like….Food, man sends us this way to eat ramen that uses your feet. He writes in from Sac-Town:

OK i used to do this all the time before school. You will need one pack of ramen including the flavor packet. Do not open the ramen. Take off your shoes and with the ball of your feet crunch all the noodles for about 2 minuts straight until you can feel that they are all little peices. If done right the ramen pack shouldnt have any holes and shouldn’t leak. Open the pack and take the flavor thingy out and sprinkle it around. Close the hole in pack of ramen with your fist and shake it up for about a minute.

Now you can take ramen by the handful…. sweet sweet ramen!

Russian Ramen
May 7th, 2006
Pree-krasna. I took 4 semesters of Russian in college, but I never did learn the word for Ramen. You would write it phonetically, and in cyrillic, like this: PAMEH. Anyway, nothing especiially Russian here, except the submitter’s name…

Submitted By: Golodnaya Masha
Submitted From: New York City

Ingredients

1 package Ramen noodles,any flavor.
2-3 cups of water
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp hot sauce
4 mushrooms, sliced (you can use champingons or any other ones you like)
1 big dollop of sour cream
a few drops of liquid smoke mesquite flavor
Boil water with mushrooms, put in dry noodles and keep cooking according to instructions. Remove from heat, let stand a couple of minutes, then add 1/2 of the seasoning packet, soy and hot sauce, liquid smoke and the sour cream, stir and enjoy. It’s a very easy and inexpensive recipe and you’ll be very surprized by the delicious flavor and aroma of this soup.

Updated by the Submitter: I wanted to add a comment, that there is russian in this recipe. First off, we almost always add sour cream to soup. Then,we love mushrooms. And we loveeverything smoked. So besides the name there is a lot of russian things about this recipe. Being from Moscow, I can assure you of this.

Divorced and Homeless Ramen
May 4th, 2006
Sorry for the lack of posting. I’ve been out of town. This one comes to us from someone who used ramen to help him get through hard times. No new innovations here, but it is an interesting read.

Submitted By: Ray Daniel
Submitted From: The Flophouse

Ingredients

Maruchan Chili-flavor (Spicy) Ramen (2 packets, because you’re hungry, very very
hungry)
Creamy Peanut Butter (two big tablespoons worth)
In a big bowl, pour some water in it (it don’t matter how much) until whatever size bowl you have is about 3/4 of the way full. Microwave this water until hot. It doesn’t have to boil necessarily, if you can’t wait long: just at least pretty hot. Take bowl out of microwave, place beside kitchen sink. Plop ramen into hot water bowl. Give it about 3 minutes.

Then, using your college degree for once in the “real world”, tip the bowl over the kitchen sink, just so, to drain off excess water while achieving a 90%+ ramen retention level. Drain until water level is at least less than half the height of the ramen. Drain more if you like the finish product more pasty than soupy.

At this moment, bust open the two hot-*** chili-flavor packets on to the ramen. Then, using the fork, dig out a big wad of peanut butter (about two tablespoons but why measure) and use fork to stir peanut butter, chili-flavored-salt, remaining hot water, and ramen all together. Very soon the water/seasoning/peanut butter will have merged into a tasty, nutritious sauce, that’s damn good with those ramen noodles. Guaranteed to cheer you up for 10 minutes.

Fried Ramen Cake
April 21st, 2006
A quick and easy way to add some protein and butter to your ramen.

Submitted From: California
Submitted By: Tess

Ingredients

1 pkg ramen – chicken flavor works best
1 egg
3 tablespoons butter
In a small saucepan heat 1 cup of water to boiling. Add flavor packet and ramen noodles. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until all the water is absorbed. In the meantime, whisk the egg in a small bowl.

Heat butter in a medium-sized nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until the foaming subsides.

This next step needs to be done swiftly so that the egg doesn’t scramble - when the noodles are done, remove the saucepan from the heat and add the whisked egg quickly, stirring all the while to coat the ramen, then dump the whole thing into the skillet. Use a fork to arrange the noodles into a rough circle.

Cook without disturbing until the bottom of the cake is browned, then flip the whole thing over with a spatula and brown on the other side. It’s done when it is brown and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

You could add things to the noodles (chicken or meat or veggies) but it’s pretty pointless because they are perfect the way they are.

Cook the egg and peel it ahead of time. Boil your water (per directions). Add your shrimp when it starts to boil, and add your noodles when it re-boils. I like my noodles a little underdone. Add your egg (cut in half) and seasoning. Consume.

Coming from Japan, my mother used to make this bowl of noodles with the ingredients that you have when I was young. It works well when I'm waiting for my next paycheck as well, and its considerably healthier than eating just plain noodles. 1. Before opening the ramen package, use your fingers to crush the noodles inside to about 8-10 pieces. 2. If you already have the rice cooked, take it out, and let it to cool. 3. Beat eggs in a bowl with a sprinkle of salt, pepper, and a light dash of soy sauce. 4. Cook the noodles in water, and add in the rice, green beans, and croutons. 5. When noodles are cooked, pour in the beaten eggs. 6. Add only half of the noodle soup seasoning packet. 7. Squeeze a tablespoon of ketchup, and add a little dash of soy sauce. 8. Serve hot!!! (Use a soup spoon to eat, so that you can gather the rice and noodles onto your spoon and eat!)

Add either the following......

1. Hotdogs
2. Eggs
3. Fishballs
4. Peas
5. Vegetables
6. Chicken meat, or left over meat
7. Chunks of fish meat

You could also drain the soup and stir fried the ramen, be creative, mix and match things.

Get some spanish or italian dried sausage from the market and chop it up. Cook it with the ramen. Add Onions, carrots, celery, mushrooms, chicken or any combination of the above. Just try different things. Experimenting is the fun part about cooking.
