wear light-colored, loose-fitting cotton shirts. The looseness helps ventilate your body and the cotton will wick the sweat away from you. Don't wear dark colors if you can help it. Khaki capris are nice too. Dark pants and jeans just add to the misery and bake you inside the heavy fabric. Wear sunblock to protect your skin and if possible, get a light-colored hat to keep your head out of the direct sunlight. Drink lots of cold water and rest in the shade whenever possible.
I have found that the best thing to do is to keep a washcloth in a baggie with me. I pour on some icy water and then wipe my face and the back of my neck and then fan myself. Man - does that feel good! Then you can put it back into the baggie and pocket it without getting your uniform wet.... Or leave it on the back of your neck while in the baggie for a little extra cool... Good luck.

A wide brimmed hat or a parasol (umbrella would do) to stop the sun from beating down on you when you walk, it would create shade.
Walk on the side of the street where the shade is if you can.
Feeling sick might be a sign of dehydration, should make sure you have enough water.
Stay out of the sun in the middle of the day - try to find a job that you can do indoors at that time.
Have a look at the NHS Direct website. They have some information about coping with this heat:-

Good Luck

Hi Chris,
I am a south Asian n heat here easily touches 40 degree Celsius with a humidity of around 89%. So Heat is something i get to face everyday. I tell ya its pretty simple, Take water in regular intervals never gulp 'em down all at once. Just take small sips once in say about 10 to 15 mins. Apply sunscreen lotion unless u wanna tan beyond recognition. N hey remember, hats don't work.. better carry an umbrella n wear light coloured cotton dress.
That should do it. Try it.. u will feel the difference.

I know how you feel I have to wear uniform and a tie all day
try to wear as loose fitting light clothes as possible
get out of the sun as much as possible
wear a wide brimmed hat
the feeling sick is the start of heat exhaustion
try having a shower during your lunch break if possible
I know this job entails checking up on the old folks and is quite a responsible job but who would do it if you were ill through this heat
drink lots and keep up the good work
