First of all you go to confession, this will easy your heart, and try thinking about that Jesus loves you, no matter how wrong you've behaved, try talking to God more often, and maintain a strong relationship with him, soon you'll realise that He forgives everything, and no matter what you do, you will always be His child.
Guilt is good, it makes you more human, and a good christian, you doesn't need to get rid of it, it will go away as soon you accept what you've done and accept the person you are, that you're not perfect, everybody makes mistakes. If you fell guilty you will not commit any more sins, imagine your life without the sentiment of guilt. Your a good person, keep that in your mind, because you fell this way!
my advise to you is that you try to love Jesus from the bottom of your hart, and he will provide you the answers to your questions, in any way you can or can't imagine, because small miracles DO happen, you just have to see them!

Tell yourself this: Catholicism and all its rules, like all religions, are man made. Their primary function was, and still is, social control. To ensure a cohesive and functional society which benefited themselves, powerful and educated men created rules and foisted them upon the lower levels of society. What better and cleverer way to keep people (especially women) in line, than to heap great amounts of guilt and fear of 'God' upon them? Because they were learned and the rest of society wasn't, the average person actually believed that these men had, and deserved, direct access to God. They then lost their own access to God, and have never found it since, through fear and guilt. That's it, in a nutshell!
What puzzles me is that people are so quick to condemn 'cults' which spring up these days, with their brainwashing techniques...what's the difference, when you really get down to it?
It's just your upbringing. As long as you are as kind as you can be, possess a conscience, and accept your faults, I would say you are pretty much a perfect human being.

By opening your eyes and your mind, and by accepting the world and Nature as they are. I was brought up in the Catholic religion myself, and believed many of the strange teachings and doctrines without questioning. Until I began to study Theology. Then I realised and began to understand the true nature of the Catholic Church and her real purpose. Subsequently I left the Church, but I continued studying Theology and Philosophy. And by now I have seen the truth and the light and know that Jesus was in fact abolishing organised religion and opening the door to God for all of us. In the 4th century the Roman Emperor Constantine reversed all his teachings and reforms, and so we have today a conglomerate of Judaism and Roman Pagan state worship which is sold to us as the "Catholic Church". Sadly, it is a fraud through and through, and when you open your eyes and your mind, you will see it for yourself.
I hope that you will find your way out of the labyrinth as I have. And if you need help or advise, feel free to get in touch with me.

Time - Been there, done that. After a while, you get used to another mindset. 10 years later, you won't even remember why you felt guilty.
Most guilt is put on us by people, not God. We allow others to load guilt on us. So put it aside and enjoy the freedom of the ride.

There is no harm in enjoying oneself. The Bible teaches us that Jehovah is a 'happy God'(1Tim.1:11)
Unfortunately the Catholic Church teaches many man made doctrines and many of its beliefs are steeped in pagan origins.
I used to be a catholic. It wasn't until I became one of Jehovah's Witnesses that I finally was able to come to an accurate understanding of God's Holy Word.
We are all imperfect humans and will sin again and again.Guilt is something that plagues us all. However,if you are not doing anything contrary to God's righteous standards, then you have nothing to feel guilty about. On the other hand,if you are behaving in a way you shouldn't,then you need to take it up with Jehovah in heartfelt prayer. And disdain from doing whatever it is again.

I suspect that your "Catholic guilt" is largely a creature of your own making.
Catholicism doesn't want people to go around feeling worthless and "guilty" all the time.
But on the other hand, it does want us to accept the fact that we are sinners, and that we are to rely on Christ's mercy if we are to get anywhere -- including to heaven.
Remember that the Catholic Church -- though it performs a great deal of charity work and strives for an active, vibrant social life in every parish -- exists principally to guide people close to God, specifically to guide people to heaven after we die.
It does this by helping us to remind ourselves that we are in complete need of God's mercy because we are sinners -- and offers us a way to access that mercy.
The Church also strives to teach us about the goodness and holiness that all of us are capable of -- if we recognize that we are sinners. Only by recognize our proneness to sin can we hope to overcome it.

Guilt is not 'Catholic'......many times guilt may be a sign of conviction that comes from the Holy Spirit.
If your a Catholic, geezzz...it is easy to get rid of guilt----go to confession! Slate wiped clean.

Do what I do, start believing in a God who is love. God doesn't ask much, just that you love (Him)(The People around you)(The People you don't know) and try your best to help others. There is nothing to be afraid of!
p.s. if you are wondering how you can love people you don't know, stick your hand in your pocket when you see a crisis appeal for famine, earthquake, I think you get the picture!
